Foothill Ranch, Calif. (March 10, 2019) – Round 10 of the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship featured the unique race in the series at Daytona International Speedway, which played in Kawasaki’s favor as Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac and Monster Energy®/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner captured the win in their respective classes, sweeping the top step of the podium at the World Center of Racing.
In 450SX Heat 1, Tomac kicked off the night show with a phenomenal start and leading all seven laps to victory and giving him first gate pick for the main event. Kawasaki teammate, Joey Savatgy, also rode well in Heat 2 as he grabbed third place when the gate dropped, holding the position all the way to the finish line.
The 450SX Main Event saw both Monster Energy Kawasaki KX™450 motorcycles running up front with Tomac in second and Savatgy in fifth out of the gate. Tomac wasted no time maneuvering his way to the front on Lap 4, leading the remaining 15 laps of the race to earn his third win of the season. The No. 17 followed suit with an impressive ride, capturing a top-5 finish.
The technical track, unusual paddock setup in the Speedway garages and the Florida sunshine brought great energy to Team Green, as Tomac became one of only five riders to win the Daytona Supercross three times. Tomac moves into second in the 450SX Rider Point Standings, while Savatgy has moved up to ninth.
#3 Eli Tomac
#17 Joey Savatgy
“Man, what a good night! It feels great to be back up here on top of the box in Daytona. This round is such a unique race and I’m always pumped when we can come in and get a win in front of this crowd. I was able to get a good start in the main tonight, which was so crucial. This win is pretty special to me and I’m honored to be one of the five riders to have won here three times. I’m excited for Indy next weekend and ready to keep this momentum going.”

“It’s nice to be back in Daytona, especially since it was close enough to drive to and have somewhat of a hometown crowd come out and support me. I felt comfortable all night and our speed and consistency has been showing every weekend. The unique track layout here really emphasized our strengths, so I’m feeling pretty good. I’m pumped on a top-5 finish and to earn some more points.”
