FXR Racing Presents Behind the Lens From Hangtown

As everyone knows by now, the highly anticipated 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships kicked off this past weekend in California at the famous Hangtown track. This was the first series in a long time that would begin without multi-time champion Ryan Dungey, as well as the 2016 450 champion Ken Roczen. Dungey, sadly announced his retirement last week, and Roczen is still out with the broken arm he suffered in January. Under sunny skies and warm temperatures, the gate dropped on the 2017 outdoor season and all of the riders were happy to finally be racing outside. Thanks to Krystyn Slack (@freestylephotocross) here is everything that went down at the opening round of the great outdoors.

Adam Cianciarulo rode well at the opening round and finished 4th overall.
Unfortunately for Jason Anderson, a rock hit his goggles and ruined what should have been a great day at Hangtown.
Blake Baggett’s 6-8 moto score was good enough for sixth overall.
Our own Kaven Benoit rode well at Hangtown going 16-DNF in the 450 class.
After a 16th in moto one, Benoit twisted his foot in moto two and was forced to DNF and rest up for Kamloops in two weeks.
A big tip of the hat to the great outdoors!
Fresh off his 2017 Supercross title and the announcement of his retirement, Ryan Dungey was on hand at Hangtown to cheer his on teammate Marvin Musquin.
Look for Austin Forkner to be a title contender this summer in the 250 class.
Josh Grant had an incredible day at Hangtown going 3-3 for third overall.
At least all of the riders were smiling before the long motos started.
Jeremy Martin tells the fans what time it is.
The battle this summer between Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac is going to be epic.
Zach Osborne picked up right where he left off two weeks ago in Las Vegas with a dominating win in Hangtown.
After sitting out all of the 2017 SX series, it was great to see Weston Peick back on the track in Hangtown.
After a great performance at the opening round, Aaron Plessinger served notice that he is ready to challenge for the 250 title.
It was great to see the 2016 450 outdoor champ Ken Roczen smiling at Hangtown.
After a very exciting Supercross season, all of the riders were excited for the gate to drop on the 2017 outdoor series.
The trophy that everyone wanted at Hangtown.
Who doesn’t love two strokes?
Dean Wilson looked great on his Husqvarna and battled to fourth overall in the 450 class.
We’re not sure if Osborne and Plessinger are happy with their finish at Hangtown, or happy that round one is over.
How good would this bike have looked on the rough Hangtown track?
Eli Tomac proved to everyone at the opening round that he is ready to win the 2017 outdoor championship.
