Random Tuesday #3 1998 Ulverton - This a great shot from one of the best tracks in Canada. I wish this one was back on tour. It’s spectator friendly, racers love it; just an amazing dirt cycle track.

JSR - In his younger days, JSR would travel and race as many US races as he could. This is him in 1993 at Daytona. He was the only Canadian to qualify that day.
Family Keasts - Here is papa bear Jamey Keast and his youngest kid Kyle sharing a family moment at the Riverbank race that Machine Racing held every fall back in the day. Little did they know back then that Kyle would become the great racer he is today.
Lino Zecca 1992 Molson Park - Lino Zecca was a racer from late ‘80s and early ‘90s that never really reached his full potential. He was fast and smooth, but just never made the progress that he should have. He turned into one hell of a promoter after his race days. He also started to an Evil Knievel-type movement in Ontario when he would Jump cars for extra cash in local towns, with no landing, just flat ground.
1996 Marty Burr - One of the fastest riders to ever come out of Ontario, Marty Burr won the 1996 CMRC 125 Championship. He was not flashy by any means, and had an ugly style when on the bike. All that aside though, this guy could twist the throttle.
1994 Mike Jones - A fan favourite whether he was in Canada, the US or in Europe, Mike Jones was the best at getting the crowd into the race. He would sacrifice himself in Jump Contests or would take out the leader for the win. Whatever he did, the fans loved it.
Chris Pomeroy #126- Touted as one of the best amateur riders of all time, Chris Pomeroy had it all. Bikes, sponsors, style, speed, and money to get him to the top. His best result would be a national #3. Chris now has a great family and supports motocross whenever he gets the chance.
Snow Start at Moto Park –For the past 10 years in Ontario, our first race of the year is always at Gopher Dunes. But 20 years ago it was always Moto Park. Rain or shine it was a go. Even snow sometimes as this picture shows. Moto Park is the longest running race track in Canada.
1987 (I think) – This is a picture of Doug Hoover with the ESSO jersey our front. Followed by Todd Townsend #34, Marty Burr #83, Rookie sensation Steve Bulliovsky #217. Not sure who #55 and #181 are. |
