Monday Maniac #6 I'm not too sure where to start this week's Maniac because the past seven days have been kind of a blur. I mean, not that I can't remember anything, just the fact that so much went on it is hard to get it all out in just one blog. I won't because I will save the good stuff for this year’s first issue of MXP that comes out in a few short weeks. if you read my Facebook or even MXP Twitter you may have heard that I was in sunny California for the past week. I personally have never been to Cali so this trip was not just about hanging with Dean Wilson, or going to the Kawasaki test track, hanging with the Nitro Circus crew for two days, hitting up the ASR trade show in Sand Diego, or just lounging at the Williams’ family house in Palm Springs. It was about a semi fat guy, with his Casper the Friendly Ghost body checking the most happening state in the world. Though this Casper is still that white because the sun wasn’t shining too much for the most part, but it still shined. This trip was awesome, and right out of the gate I have to thank Jeff Williams for the hospitality and the hook up for this venture.
Big thanks to Jeff Williams and his family for the hospitality. Oh ya Jeff 1980 called, and they want there clothes back! Ha It started in Palm Springs where Jeff's family has a great house on a very nice golf course. We relaxed for a few days before amping up and heading to Temecula to chill with Nitro Circus. Our first stop before anything was to go see Dean Wilson and hang with him for a few hours while he practiced at the Kawi track. This was insanely awesome for me. I am a racer first, but I am still a gushing fan when it comes to watching some of the best riders in the world just ride. Just a sick day of chilling and watching moto from the sidelines and snapping a few picks along the way. I must say that Dean looks very comfortable on the SX track, and was a hair shy of Weimer’s pace, who we all know is way out front in the West Coast Lites series right now. Indy SX is going to be amazing to see how Wilson fairs amongst the best in the world on the tiny confines of SX. Go Deano!!
Dean looks comfortable on the Kawi test track. Will that comfort level roll into Indy?
Nick Wey is a good guy. Mandingo Pickles baby!! After that it was off to Paloma, California for a day with the Nitro crew. It was pretty intense as soon as we pulled into the park. Like I said, I'm not revealing too much in this blog, but let me just say it was a day that will be tattooed on my memory for quite some time. I was a little disappointed though. None of the Nitro Crew, except Special Greg, really showed me anything too off the wall. Still, it was great to see some old friends in Travis Pastrana and Andy Bell.

I'm sure you can imagine what this led to. From there I was off to ASR in San Diego where I saw the weirdest people ever. I'm sorry if this comes off rude but 90% of the skaters at this show (which the show is geared towards) look like bums in the subways or on the streets. You would never think that they could skate or even be sponsored by a respectable company by the way they look. Scary man, just plain scary. Kind of a weird show as well. No booth was custom, they all looked the same. It is not really a show for consumers per say, but a way for the industry to meet others in the industry.

Ryan Villopoto catching some sun before a moto.
Jake Weimer heads out for a 20 lap moto with the rest of the team.
Josh hansen has all the talent in the world. I think it is his week to week preperation that holds him back.
On to some other news. Newf gave me this update from the weekend in Texas with Ryan Millar: "Hey Gaulds. This weekend was good for us. We did a little local race yesterday in southern Oklahoma. Awesome sand track and some pretty fast dudes showed up. Jason Anderson was there and a few other fast dudes. Ryan went 1-2 for the overall. Ryan and Anderson were battling hard in the 2nd moto but Ryan went down. It was a good day and good to see where our speed is at". Sure sounds like Ryan Millar may turn more heads once the Canadian series gets underway. I got another update from Jay Da Sylva, father of Christopher and Michael: Some really cool videos of the boys from Florida Winter AMS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ldCMVCEcQU Michael rider profile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiC_t8c_k5o&feature=related Michael helmet cam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y4YjJaHDmE Christopher rider profile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAT5pyVZmNs&feature=related Christopher helmet cam PS. the boys will be racing the 2 Texas Nationals in Lake Whitney and Oak Hill. Well Jay, from all of us at MXP and Canada, good luck to the boys and kick some butt!! I also got this quick update from Paul Smith. East Coast freestyler that lives in the US during the winter: "Well it's been a crazy 2 weeks of FMX ... Things started out awesome in Orlando last week, 75 000 crazy Florida rednecks packed the Citrus Bowl for the 2010 monster jam. The rain held off for practice, and I was pumped to flip the crazy set up they had for us in the middle of the monster truck course. The FMX demo was going great. I did my run with a KOD, Oxicutioner, One hand Helicopter, No foot Nac and a rock solid .... then things went bad. I went for the flip and between the head wind and me not pulling hard enough, I didn't get it around. I woke up in the ambulance with a head ache, cracked ribs and a bruised lung... "note to self" - if your flipping into a head wind pull extra hard ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01_ynClroiw Things got much better this week ... started to heal up, still hurts to sneeze or cough, but we did an awesome FMX demo at the St Louis dome on Saturday night for over 50 000 people and put on an great show ! Going back to Florida to work on getting the flip down... I'll keep ya posted, till then, have a good one ! "Ok Dean, I think you need to raise your intensity on the track. Back when I was a badminton superstar; I would be so intense that I couldn't lose. The competition was so scared, I won before I even played. I think that's what you need to do, " states Jeff Williams former badminton sensation from Vancouver. Well, that wraps up another Monday Maniac. Oh, I almost forgot. I have these sick West 49 T's and Nitro Circus T's to give away. There will be a contest in tomorrow's Random Tuesday so don't miss out on some free swag. Later, Gauldy
