KTM is showing no signs of letting up the throttle in Canadian off-road racing. Their latest move comes in the addition of 2012 E1 Canadian Enduro Champion Philippe Chaine. The calm and cool rider is now racing a 2013 KTM 250 XC-F, with direct support from KTM Canada.
One of Canada’s fastest rising off-road talents, the 21-year-old from Victoriaville, Quebec is a contender everywhere he races. This past summer, Chaine traveled west and rode all 8 rounds of the CEC, winning the E1 Championship and finishing fifth overall in the Pro classes. At the provincial level, Chaine finished a respectable 4th overall in the competitive FMSQ Championship.
“I’m happy with my results in 2012, but I want to beat Bobby [Prochnau],” says a smiling Chaine. “I’ve been riding my 2013 250 XC-F a lot and I’m really impressed with how powerful it is. I think KTM builds the best off-road bikes and they’re a great racing family to work with. Those are the two main reasons that I chose KTM.”
Chaine’s number one priority is to win the FMSQ Expert Championship and claiming a podium at the national level, but when time permits, the KTM rider enjoys testing his skill against American riders. “My best GNCC finish this year was a 12th in XC2, but I’m hoping to race at least 9 events next year and fight for a top-5 result.”
As of press time, Chaine rode his KTM to a 12th place finish in the XC2 Lites class at the Loretta Lynn’s GNCC. (Interesting to note … fellow French Canadian, Felicia Robichaud, finished 5th in the Women’s class!)
