Who manufactures the perfect motocross boot today? We all have different needs; I am looking for the boot that’s comfortable and fits well. I also want a boot that doesn’t take weeks to break in. Once broken in, it has to be able to support the ankle area too. I need to be able to feel the brake pedal and the shifter! “Is there a boot that fits my needs?”
I was given the opportunity to try out the new Sidi Crossfire 2 SRS MX boot. I thought, okay, Sidi is a high end boot made in Italy. The boot has a lot of moving parts with dual pivots, plus solid working buckles that have fully adjustable straps for all sizes. A nylon insole was built to offer support without a steel shank, and a removable arch support provides the foundation on which the Crossfire 2 SRS is built upon. The toe area is completely covered in plastic for a sleek look, and the inside of the boot features replaceable guards to protect from the kick-starter and foot pegs. Finally, the molded, anti-skid soles are completely replaceable with optional Enduro soles that can be adjusted with just a flat-blade screwdriver. It does take a little longer to buckle them up as there are a few more layers than most boots.
Once I started riding, there was pretty well zero break-in time required; they flexed enough to feel the controls right away. I am looking for comfort and flexibility and these Sidi boots right out of the box felt perfect. These boots are available in sizes from 7.5 to 13 and are my new favourite boots.
