This past weekend, Round 10 of the Monster Energy Supercross Series invaded the hallowed grounds of the Daytona International Speedway. This race is one of the jewels of the SX series as everyone loves when it’s time to head to Daytona. Since the first race there back in the 1970’s, the Daytona SX has always been the ultimate test of mind, body, spirit and machine. In fact, there haven’t been too many main events where the strongest rider didn’t win. This race is so important to everyone that most feel that the SX championship chase doesn’t really begin until the riders leave Daytona.
This year wasn’t unlike any other year as the riders struggled to maintain any type of consistency on the tough Ricky Carmichael designed track. Throughout the evening we witnessed multiple top riders making some very uncharacteristic mistakes. However, when all was said and done, the Kawasaki duo of Eli Tomac and Austin Forkner outlasted everyone to take home the wins in the 450SX and 250SX classes respectively. It was a great night of racing and Mike Vizer was there to capture it all for this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Behind the Lens.
