Yamaha Motor Canada Presents Style Check- Battle In Quebec

As we sit here on the final day of our work week, all eyes on the beautiful capital of Quebec, Quebec City. This city is one of the most visited in Canada when it comes to tourism as people come from all over the world to see the sights like the Plains of Abraham and the Old city. This past summer when the MXTour made its way to Deschambault for the ECAN as well as Round 8 of the series, a few riders and their families made the 45 minute trek to Old Quebec City to have a look around. To stand at the base of the historic Chateau Frontenac Hotel and look out over the St. Lawrence River is a pretty impressive sight.

Well this weekend the only battles going on in Quebec will be inside the beautiful Centre Videotron, a building that was voted one of the top new arenas in North America. Yes, Round 3 of the Rockstar Energy Triple Crown SXTour will have a very nice venue tomorrow to showcase its series. With this race being held so late into the year, one of the concerns was the dirt and how dry it would be when they brought it into the building. With the past month being very wet in Quebec City, almost all of the surrounding area is soaked. However, as they began to bring the dirt in yesterday and build the technical track, we’re happy to report that the dirt is perfect and the track is looking great. With a spacious and modern venue, top notch riders, and thousands of excited Supercross fans in Quebec, Round 3 of the SXTour should be the best of the series. There is also a snowmobile show in the building next to the Centre Videotron, so hopefully this event can draw on the number of people that will be attending that show tomorrow.

As far as the racing on the track, this will be, as it has all season long, very exciting. With just a few points separating Cole Thompson and Colton Facciotti in the 450 class for the SXTour title as well as the big $100,000 Triple Crown grand prize, look for these two riders to lay it all on the line tomorrow night. Colton’s GDR Fox Honda teammate Dylan Wright will also be racing the 450 class during these final two rounds, so you can bet he will be fast and aggressive all evening long. In the 250 class, Jess Pettis has pretty much owned this series since it began in Montreal. With his closest competitor Shawn Maffenbeier on his way to the 450 class in 2019, we can’t see him taking too many chances in these final two rounds. So look for young riders like Tanner Ward and Marco Cannella to be going for the podium tomorrow night. With a great track, a new venue, and a lot at stake, look for Round 3 to be one of the most exciting races of 2018.
