Behind the Lens- Cole Thompson At the Oakland Supercross

After having to sit out the race last weekend in Anaheim, Cole Thompson took the week to recover before showing up to the Oakland SX ready to race. Right away Cole looked very comfortable and showed it with a strong 4th in his heat race. In the main event, Cole got a great jump off the gate, but was forced wide in turn one and got shuffled back to 15th. From there, he put his head down and had his best race of 2016. When the 15 lap main event was over, Cole had worked his way up to 10th place. Here are some of Frank Hoppen’s best Cole Thompson photos from round 4 in Oakland, CA.

After his great heat race which saw Cole finish in 4th, he had a good pick for the main event.

Cole reached the first turn in great position in the main event. However, because he was on the outside of all the fast riders, Cole got pushed wide and his good start quickly turned into a bad start.

The first turn of a 250SX race in Supercross is a very crowded place.

Cole rode great in the main event and was able to charge all the way to 10th place by the finish.

Between his Slaton Racing KTM and his 2016 Fox Racing gear, Cole is one of the best looking riders on the track in 2016.

Cole shows us a glimpse of his perfect riding style as he battles through an Oakland rut.

After crashing a few times last weekend at Anaheim 2, Cole was very smooth during the Oakland practice sessions this weekend.

Here is another view of Cole getting through the deep Oakland ruts.

I love this shot of Cole wide open and charging at round 4 of the 2016 Monster Energy Supercross Series.

So far in 2016, Cole has been one of the most stylish riders in the 250SX class.

Of all of these Frank Hoppen shots from Oakland, this one is my favourite as it shows the aggression that it takes if you want to succeed in Supercross.
