Brian House Memorial Photo Report

by Gauldy 107

In 2005, the island of Newfoundland lost one of their family members, Brian House, in a tragic accident in Riverglade, NB. It was a racing incident in which nobody was at fault. This sport can be tough as we all know but when a life is lost because of a dirt bike it really makes ya think. Brian House’s memory lives on through the small community of racers each year. They hold a race in his honour and cherish the love for a friend that each one of them lost. I was fortunate enough to attends this year’s event and let me tell ya, if Brian was looking down from heaven, he would have been so proud of what the people have done for him and the sport of motocross in Newfoundland, and how they have helped the sport that Brian loved so much grow for future stars from ‘The Rock’. Enjoy some photos from the Brian House Memorial race at Riverview MX Park.

The new facility for all the racers on the island. This shot does not give it justice to how much work has gone into this place. These Newfs are all heart!!

Mitch Cooke can still whip the crap out of a bike. “Oh Mitch, you’re so dreamy.” hahahahaha

Fred Roy (on the big bike) is not from Newfoundland but they sure do love him there. He truly is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet in this sport.

Mitch Cooke “Man I’m showing you guys how to whip, how come you can’t do it?” LOL

Adam Turner “Hold up, Mitch is whipping it. It’s like the first time you hear the Beatles. Breathtaking” Hahhahahaahha

The Junior class has some good riders on the Rock. Evan Gale #24 took home the double moto victory.

The Intermediate racers also showed some skill at Riverview.

You may be asking why I have this look of disappointment.

. Here’s why. Sorry Steve Anstie. A rocked popped my chain off and decided to shred the motor. I was so bummed.

Rod and Mitch had to settle a bet from the previous night about who could holeshot who.

The loser had to wear this dress.

Huge turnout of spectators and racers. Overall, it was a great day to celebrate the life of Brian House.

Rod would have won this holeshot bet, no problem. Cooke had to ride a 250F against Rod’s 450. Cooke had a plan to swing wide and cut underneath but smoked the back of Rod’s bike and went down.

Rod had the bet won but the deal was he had to get around turn two. As you can see he only made it halfway and crashed. He actually threw it away thinking he had won.

They had to redo the start and as you can see Mitch wasn’t screwing it up again. He took the win and you will see how it ended for Rod below.

Young Ryan Murphy will be carrying the Newf flag here soon. This kid has some skill.

Earl Anstie is right on the heels of Murphy.

The third fast Supermini rider is Jacob Olinik. These three kids will be names you will hear in the future. You heard that first right here on MXP.

Conky getting some serious air. He may be getting the call from the Montreal freestyle show this week with move like this. Hahhahahahaha

Ashley McKinnon railing the turn.

Turbo #55 in a heated battle.

Dion and his boy Tommy were such a great help all day. Cheers boys.

This is how Rod had to honour the bet. Not a good looking woman at all. Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahaahahah

Ryan Scott (I think Ryan was his first name) was a super fast kid in Intermediate, and for his efforts he took the win plus a free tire.

Hey Steve, put a smile on your face bi!!!! hahahah Great group right here.

“Lord Tunderin Geezus bi. I have to get these mainlanders out of here. My liver is getting beaten down.” hahahahahah Thanks again to everyone for an amazing time.

  • Thanks for honoring Brian's memory. We, the Sheehan family, loved him dearly. He will never be forgotten.
Brian loved what he did, he loved to encourage kids and even gave of his time to help them learn the ropes.
We miss your beautiful smile Brian...We know you are in motorcross heaven

  • How sad that this is the only photo you got! The truth is I am exhausted from taking care of the mainlanders! Especially ones who leave their weekend underwear on the bathroom floor!
    Cheers until next time!!
