FIM World Championship Contenders Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos

Join Round 2 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship

Belgium Natives to Race the Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National This Weekend

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 23, 2013) – FIM World Championship contenders Clement Desalle and Kevin Strijbos will join the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, this Saturday, May 25, when the Rockstar Energy Suzuki riders attend the Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colo.

Desalle and Strijbos both hail from Belgium and are currently in contention for the MX1 (450 Class) title, ranked third and fourth, respectively, in the Grand Prix standings. With that series now on break, the two world-class competitors will add even more international talent to a championship that already boasts stars like Chad Reed and Michael Byrne of Australia, Ken Roczen of Germany, South Africa’s Tyla Rattray and Gareth Swanepoel, Scotland’s Dean Wilson, Ecquador’s Martin Davalos and Marvin Musquin of France.

Clement Desalle might be a familiar name with Lucas Oil Pro Motocross fans since the Belgian has visited the series twice before. In 2009 he finished tenth overall at Washougal while riding in the 450 Class, including a third-place finish in Moto 1. And in 2010 he visited the Unadilla National, finishing an impressive second overall in the 450 Class after battling with eventual winner and series champion Ryan Dungey.

Desalle has visited the Thunder Valley Motocross Park before. In 2010 he was a member of Team Belgium at the Motocross of Nations, held at the popular Lakewood venue. Desalle finished third in the final moto behind Team USA’s Dungey and Andrew Short, respectively. Both Dungey and Short will be on hand again, but rather than Team USA, Dungey will be on a Red Bull KTM and Short, a native of Colorado, will compete aboard a BTOSports.com KTM.

Like Desalle, Strijbos has finished as runner-up in the FIM World Championships in the past but he has never won the title. The 27-year-old Strijbos (pronounced “Stry-bose”) has been racing professionally since 2000, though the Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National will mark his AMA debut.

The Rockwell Watches Thunder Valley National will feature all four motos live, as NBC Sports Network will air the first set of motos live beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern. The live coverage will continue on FUEL TV for the second motos, beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern. All four motos will also have live streaming coverage.
