CODY WEBB CROWNED WINNER AT THIRD EDITION OF RED BULL ROCKS AND LOGS

— 125 riders battled for glory in front of thousands at Canada’s only urban endurocross challenge —

CALGARY, AB – September 13, 2015 – This weekend, Wild Rose MX Park welcomed some of the best endurocross riders from around the globe and almost 4000 spectators as it hosted Red Bull Rocks & Logs, a head-to-head endurocross competition on a custom built course. Riders were faced with the longest and most technical track in the events three years in Calgary, along with varying and unpredictable weather conditions from extreme heat to wet and chilly temperatures. As the sport has progressed in the area, this race has begun to attract riders from all over North America and even overseas to see why Calgary is Canada’s home for offroad racing.

Last year’s winner Kyle Redmond looked to defend his title in the Pro category but couldn’t outlast the new international talent that came to Calgary for the first time. It was AMA Endurocross champion Cody Webb who took to the top of the podium after beating out the competition by a landslide.

“This is my first time in Calgary but I knew I was in for a very unique competition. I’ve raced a lot of different endurocross tracks all over the world but there’s nothing else like the Red Bull Rocks and Logs track,” explained Webb. “Most tracks I race are very similar and well groomed but this was very unpredictable with some tricky natural features and tough weather conditions.”

The inspiration behind the design of the track by pro rider Shane Cuthbertson (Airdrie, AB), was meant to enfuse elements that local riders find in Alberta’s mountainous terrain, mixed with technical design elements from Enduros and Harescrambles across the globe brought to Wild Rose MX Park, in the heart of Calgary.

Competing in a head-to-head, knockout format, 125 riders took to the track – divided by class. The 65 riders in the Amateur category had three laps in their qualifying heats and four laps in the final to determine the champion. In the Pro category, the 25 riders raced four laps in qualifying heats, followed by eight grueling laps in the finals.
