Countdown to Anaheim

With only ten days until the gate drops on the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series, we take a quick look at what the riders might expect with the track design. The start, and the opening few sections reminds me a lot of the 2009 Anaheim 1 track. With the left hand first, two rhythm sections, and then a difficult whoop section, the riders are going to get tested immediately on this track. In supercross, good starts are obviously very important, on this opening round track, a good start will be an absolute must.

With multiple rhythm sections on both sides of the stadium, passing will be difficult at best. Personally, I like the three corners that blanket the finish line section for passing on this track. As the riders land from the triple prior to the finish, they should be able to either dive inside to make a quick pass, or rail the outside and get a good drive through the short whoop section. This will give them a great opportunity to be aggressive in the final corner. With less than a week to go before the kick off to the new supercross season, the excitement is definitely building!
