It’s Finally Here! Gopher Dunes will open this weekend

Gopher Dunes Opening April 6 – CMRC Practice

Gopher Dunes is ready to make the long-anticipated announcement of our Opening Day for the 2014 Season!  This sure has been one bitter cold winter with record snowfalls and a winter that just wouldn’t end!  Finally a few days ago the guys were able to start pumping water off the low-lying areas, having been delayed by the sub-zero night-time temp’s.  Although our snow is now pretty much gone, it’s the deep ground frost that has caused uncertainties as to when we would be able to open our facility, with the parking fields and laneways still very wet and muddy! 

Gopher Dunes is opening this Sunday, April 6th.  to host the CMRC Test & Tune Ride Day.  This is a sanctioned Motocross Practice Day for CMRC Members only.   

Sign-in will begin at 9am and riding will begin after 10am to 5pm.  Practice fee is $35 per rider and the bikes will get divided into practice heats throughout the day.  For those of you who haven’t yet purchased their 2014 CMRC licence, we invite you to come out this Sunday, as staff will be here to sell memberships and also sell transponders.  Transponders are now mandatory at all CMRC races for the big track only (not required for the pee-wee track).  Transponders need to get activated and fully charged prior to the Opener Race on April 13th.   If you don’t already have one, get yours this weekend!

For this Test & Tune Day we are inviting all motocross and quad racers to come out, unload and get in some good practice laps in preparation for the CMRC Season Opener Race. 

The Pro Shop will be open on Sunday, and all registration and sign-in will take place at the front shop.  Hot and cold drinks plus snacks will be sold at the Pro Shop and the grill will be fired up for burgers and hotdogs. 

Are you UNDER 18?  If so, it is mandatory that you complete the CMRC Parental/Minor Participant Waiver forms for 2014.  Please take the time to read and sign these forms in the comfort of your home, and bring along the completed Minor Waivers this Sunday.  Without parental signatures, you will not be allowed to ride!  These forms can be accessed off the www.cmrcracing.com site.

Gopher Dunes is hosting a few MX Training Schools.  For riders wanting to improve their sand racing skills, now is the time to sign-up for the 50cc & 65cc all-day session on Saturday, April 26.  The April 12 session for 85cc bikes and larger, will likely be postponed to the earlier part of May.

We are also taking bookings for private, semi-private, small group and family sessions throughout our season, including a Honda bike/quad rental or on your own machine.  More details online….

Now as far as being open this Saturday for riding, it doesn’t look too promising with the wet and cold forecast – but should things change, it will get posted. 

Overnight camping is allowed at $15 per vehicle.  Campfires are allowed in raised fire-pits only, and you must supply your own pit and firewood.  We will then be open next week from April 8th. to 10th. from 11am till 7:30pm for practice riding. 

The CMRC Season Opener Race is scheduled here at Gopher Dunes on Sunday, April 13th. 

The Spring 4×4 MudFest for trucks and jeeps will be hosted on Good Friday, April 18th.
