Throughout the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series we’ll be reaching out to Cade Clason each week to get his thoughts on his previous round. In case you didn’t know, Clason is back racing SX after a small hiatus from the series. Cade is a popular rider on both sides of the border as he’s also been a Top 5 450 rider in Canada during the past few seasons. It’s great to see Cade back racing full-time and we look forward to his answers each week.
MXP: First off, it’s great to see you back racing Supercross in the USA. You’ve come a long way in two years; were you just a little nervous heading into A1?
CC: Honestly, I want to say no. Going into the race I was super happy and having fun, but once I started riding, I felt the nerves start to set in. I didn’t really feel like I was riding right, and certainly nothing like myself.
The A1 track looked a little more technical than normal for an opening round. How was it from your perspective?
I really liked it. I honesty didn’t think it was too difficult, but I was just making it harder and harder on myself by riding tight.
MXP: Were you happy with your progression through practice and qualifying? You appeared to improve with each lap.
I did get better throughout the night but honestly never really got to anywhere near how I normally ride.
You made the night show but missed out on the main event. Not a bad showing for your first SX in some time. Overall, were you happy with how the opening round went?
I made it through the day without crashing or making any major mistakes, so that was a plus, but honestly, I have so much more in me. So, I’m happy to be healthy and know what I need to work on.

What are some things you’ve been working on this week heading into St. Louis?
We worked on some starts; we are trying some new shock settings as well. As far as my riding, I’m really working on showing up to the track and finding speed as fast as possible. Raw speed has never been my specialty, it’s something I need a lot more of.
Other than the racing part of being at the opening round, what is the coolest part of A1?
Just being back, seeing everyone and just being a part of the action again.
