Well, here we are just over a week before Christmas and once again our resolve is being tested with this never-ending Pandemic. However, on the bright side the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross Series is just around the corner so 22 days time we’ll be able to sit back and watch the best SX riders compete at Anaheim 1. Thankfully, after taking last week off Ryan Lockhart is back with his popular Matrix Concepts Canada 3 Q’s. Newf is in Alberta this weekend for the LRX Performance AX in Brooks, but he still had some time to give us answers to these three important questions.
MXP: Hey Newf, hopefully, you’ve had some time to watch some of the videos that have come out in the USA of riders getting ready for the 2022 Monster Energy Supercross Series. Other than Justin Barcia who always seems to get off to a quick start in the series, which rider or riders do you see coming out of the gate strong in 2022?
RL: It’s going to be exciting that’s for sure. I always feel like the guys with the raw speed shine at the first few rounds. AC, Roczen, Barcia always has that fire when the series starts. It seems to take a few rounds for riders like Webb, Tomac, etc to get their mojo going. If I was to pick a favorite to come out swinging, I’m going with AC. From what I know he has had a great off-season and is healthy. Whatever happens, the 450SX class is more stacked than ever and it’s going to be fun to watch!
MXP: Sadly, Future West had to once again postpone the AX Championship Series until February. How are things going in BC and do you see Future West being able to finish this series off as planned?
Well, this has been the trend for 2 years now. Cancel, postpone, delay, we’ve been through it all. Things are slowly getting back to normal out here and I’m very confident that we will be able to get these final two rounds finished up in February. However, with new restrictions most likely coming who knows what might happen. What I do know is we will do whatever it takes to get our kids out there doing what they love.
MXP: You’re headed to Brooks Alberta this weekend for the LRX Performance Arenacross. This is a first-time event so how do you see it going?
I’m excited! I have been helping these guys and so far, everything has seemed to go smoothly. The dealers and other sponsors have really gotten behind the event and last time I checked they had over 200 entries signed up. Alberta needs AX back just like the old days, so this race is a great first step.
