This could be the spot for you this winter.
As an Amateur racer Matt Walker won over 27 Amateur National Titles that stretched from Florida to California. It wasn’t until his last Title, at Loretta Lynn’s in 1998, that Walker at 16 years old would decide to turn PRO. He would rack up 2 podium finishes in his Rookie year behind class winner Ricky Carmichael. After a promising Rookie year as a privateer, Matt would spend the next two years struggling with inferior equipment and support. But that all changed in the Fall of 2001 when he signed to ride with Mitch Payton’s infamous Pro-Circuit’s race team for the 2002 season. Only a few races into the season Matt scored his first ever Supercross win in Houston. Matt’s career would last for 5 years and four seasons on Mitch Payton’s team, at the time, longer than any other rider in the team’s history. A win and countless podium finishes throughout that span, Matt’s career was cut short at Glen Helen in 2005, his last race on Monster Energy/Pro Circuit, when he suffered a crash in the last Moto of the year. Shattering his jaw, skull, and vertebra’s in his back. At the age of 23 he tried to compete in 2006 with Factory Yamahas Lites team, Yamaha of Troy. Although he tried, Walker never regained the riding form he once had. Ironically his last race was Glen Helen 2006, at the age of 24.
