ROME, Ga. (USA) April 28, 2016 – The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is set to take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford this Saturday, April 30, for the penultimate round of the 2016 season. For the second weekend in a row, the championship battle will take place in the northeast, located just outside of the glitz and glamour provided by the world-famous New York City. Weather could play a key factor in tire selection this weekend when riders enter the open roof stadium at the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. Rain or shine, Pirelli will have its full SCORPION™MX tire lineup on hand to accommodate the riders and perfectly execute the track conditions needs. Local northeast hero Justin Barcia is looking forward to his hometown race this weekend aboard his Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha. A rider known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, the New York native has always carried a little extra motivation when competing in front of friends and family. It would not be surprising to see the No.51 claim his season-best finish on the familiar soil. JGRMX rider Weston Peick is carrying momentum into the weekend after a hard-fought eighth place finish last weekend in Foxborough. Despite missing the first several races of the season, his recent performances have bumped him inside of the top-10 in the championship standings for the first time this year. BTO Sports/WPS/KTM’s Justin Brayton is another rider who currently sits inside of the top-10 in the 450SX Class championship standings, just ahead of his Pirelli teammate Peick. The veteran, who has been fast throughout the season, suffered from a few mishaps in last weekend’s Main Event, but will be looking to rejoin the front-runners this weekend. Returning to the BTO Sports/WPS/KTM team for another round will be fill-in rider Benny Bloss. The 19-year old supercross rookie gained valuable experience in Foxborough while racing in his first-ever 450SX. He will be determined to improve last week’s results with an additional week of becoming familiarized with the team. TPJ Racing’s Nick Schmidt continues to keep his 450SX Class Main Event streak alive, which currently sits at 14-consecutive races. The privateer has his sights set on increasing the number to 15 at MetLife Stadium. In the 250SX Class, MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Graphics/ Suzuki’s Matt Bisceglia had a weekend he would rather forget and will be looking to seek redemption in East Rutherford. The Texan is a few points shy of top-10 in the championship standings, but has the ability to improve several positions with a strong finish this weekend. Jimmy Albertson has slowly been returning to form over the past several weekends after beginning the season with an injury. “Top Jimmy” has done an excellent job of keeping the Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki team on the map during its first year. Supercross action from the MetLife Stadium gets underway on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. ET and can be viewed on FOX Sports 1. Check local listings for channel information.
