Pirelli Riders Look To Build Momentum Heading Into San Diego

Rome, GA. (USA) January 14, 2016 – For the second year, Petco Park will be the host venue for Monster Energy AMA Supercross when the series arrives in San Diego on Saturday, January 16. This weekend marks round 2 of 17 in the championship, and is the first of two stops scheduled inside the stadium. The Pirelli-supported teams of Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha and BTO Sports/WPS/KTM will rely on the performance advantages of the SCORPION™MX tires in the 450SX Class, while Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki and Yoshimura/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki reap the rewards in the 250SX Class.

Multi-time winner of the 450SX Class in San Diego, Davi Millsaps is coming off of a strong performance at the opening round and will have his sights set on adding another victory to his career-win list. BTO Sports/WPS/KTM teammate, Justin Brayton will be looking to continue his march towards the front of the pack after last weekend’s top-10 performance in Anaheim.

JGRMX rider Justin Barcia had no problem leading the talented field of riders into the first turn this past weekend and will be joined by fellow Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha rider Phil Nicoletti who will lineup for his first race of the 2016 season.

Leading the way for Pirelli in an action packed 250SX Class is seasoned veteran Kyle Cunningham, as he will be looking for redemption and to remind everyone that he is a key player aboard his Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki.

New to the 250SX Class this year is highly touted rookie Daniel Baker riding for Yoshimura/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki, fresh off of his first-ever supercross where he gained valuable experience as he heads south for this weekend’s event.

The Privateer Journey Racing team of Killian Auberson (250SX), Nick Schmidt (250SX) and Teddy Parks (450SX), along with individual privateer Alex Ray (450SX) will also be lining up in San Diego and equipped with Pirelli SCORPION tires, searching for any edge they can get to navigate the tricky soil.

Supercross action from Petco Park gets underway on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. PT and can be viewed on FS1. Check local listings for channel information.
