James Stewart isn’t the first racer to launch his own line of riding apparel; Torsten Hallman, Malcolm Smith and Bob Hannah all come to mind as racers who threw their hats into the ring. Stewart’s newest venture came as a surprise to most, as it was a well-kept secret throughout its planning stages. In the end, James partnered with Troy Lee Designs to come up with Seven MX Gear.
Like everyone, when I first saw Stewart’s very cool Seven gear, I was very intrigued as it looked incredible. As with almost everything James has done, the gear is very flashy with modern colour schemes. However, as good as the gear looks, it’s nothing compared to how good the gear feels once you throw it on.
The first time I tried it on I made a joke that it felt like the LuLu Lemon of motocross gear. Whether it’s the pants, jerseys or gloves, each piece of Seven gear felt extremely lightweight and very well made. Once on the track, the athletically fitted gear moved very well with your body as you rode. Whether it was the Rival Series or the Zero Series, both sets of gear felt great, especially in the heat and humidity of our Canadian summers. Like everything that Troy Lee gets involved with, Seven Gear is top shelf all the way. With modern day motocross clothing being as much about fashion as it is function, on the track you feel as if you have all the bases covered.
However, don’t just take it from me. Head out to your local Troy Lee Designs Dealer and pick up some Seven Gear. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed with this new and exciting product from James Stewart. To see all the gear that Seven has to offer, go to www.troyleedesigns.com.
