Sliding Doors With Sierra Roth

“If you are good at something, never do it for free.”

My mother once shared a Joker from the Dark Knight quote to me that stated the following, “If you are good at something, never do it for free.” As rare as it might seem, this got me thinking about my future education and career path, which then, like any true motocrosser, it got me thinking about this sport. In Canada, pro motocrossers just aren’t able to make a living off of just racing, not like the Americans anyways. Women especially struggle to have a series, let alone make any kind of money. That is why having a sponsor like Hardcore Candy (HCC) on board this year, is really important and exciting. This new company approached me earlier this year with a plan that I couldn’t roll away from and something you all should take a minute to recognize.

I met with the founder of HCC in person a few weeks after she contacted me and I immediately was hooked. The owner, Amanda, is motivated to make a difference for women in sports. She hopes to empower women to never settle until dreams and goals are met. Which to me, is exactly what the CDNWMX Series is all about. She explains about her company with the following, “We are here to showcase the real women in a male dominated industry! The ones who have broken bones, sacrificed, and ruined their mascara. The ladies with no fear or limits! For this generation and the ones to come! For the girls that ride….. we’ve got you covered! And we’re going to look good doing it! I am just a small town girl creating a platform for all the girls out there trying to be better than the boys! Team HCC wants to be the brand and driving force for all ladies to know that you can do it! You’re not alone and we’ve got your back! We are Canadian proud and printed!”

The company will have clothing product to sell online soon and is hoping to have riding gear as well. Not only is Amanda going to be sponsoring both the west and east series, but she is also sponsoring two of our west women, Brittany Danyluk and Kate Lees, and will be hooking up the CDNWMX organizers with some apparel. If that isn’t a sweet deal, I don’t know what is. With that being said, I encourage everyone to check out who Amanda is on social media and to purchase some product once available! You won’t want to miss out on what she has to offer. Amanda also will be around at some of the west rounds, so if you see her or the HCC product, be sure to check it out. You can follow what HCC is up to by viewing them on facebook www.facebook.com/hardcorecandyinc, instagram hardcorecandyinc, or her website atwww.hardcorecandyinc.com . We would like to personally thank Amanda and HCC for all the support this year and hope for the best to you and your company in the future.

With that, I figured it would be appropriate to talk to our number three rider in the west, who is sponsored by Hardcore Candy, Brittany Danyluk.

SR: Hey Brittany, can you tell the world who you are, how long have you have been racing, and how you got into the sport.

Brittany: Hello world, my name is Brittany Danyluk, I’m 21 years old and I’ve been riding dirt bikes since I was about 10-years-old. Racing has been in my family on both sides for a very, very long time, although I didn’t know that until just a few years ago. My aunt and uncle have never stopped. My family and I used to go visit them and we would always ride their little bikes. I loved it, told my Dad that it was something I would love to do, as I’m very competitive, and I haven’t stopped since!

SR: For those who don’t know you, can you tell them how your season in 2015 went?

Brittany: 2015 honestly went AMAZING! It’s the best year I’ve ever had and the most fun! I got #3 in the CMRC Western Canadian Women’s Motocross Nationals, as well as a holeshot at the last round in Calgary.

SR: What have you been up to since the summer and what are the plans for the rest of this year?

Brittany: Since the summer I’ve raced the Future West Arenacross in BC and finished 2nd overall in the series! I’ve also just been working a ton as I’m an apprentice plumber, trying to save up for this upcoming season in 2016! My plans for the rest of 2016 is to do amazing at the Women’s Nationals again and just have fun like always! Nothing is ever set in stone. I just go day by day trying to get more sponsors and money to help support me in the sport I absolutely love.

SR: if you could see one change in the CDNWMX Series, what would it be?

Brittany: Honestly, the one change I absolutely wanted to see was for the women to get four rounds and we got that this year, so I’m super pumped on that! As of any other changes, I couldn’t ask for the ladies that put it all together to do any more than they already do! The women’s nationals have grown so much in the past two years, it’s amazing. It’s more than we’ve ever had before and it shows with the amount of ladies that are on the gates waiting for that 30 second board to go sideways!

SR: Do you have any life plans/goals you want to achieve in the next few years?

Brittany: My life plan/goals are just to continue with my amazing job, finish my four years of schooling, become a Journeyman Plumber and hopefully start my long term life! As for racing, I just take it year by year. Obviously I’m getting older and can’t be taking that much time off work for racing, but it’s hard to put an end to a sport that you love to do! I think that maybe I’ll slow down with racing and become more a part of it like the girls we have running the series. I’m hoping to possibly do a lot more riding schools and teach the next generation of girls. Only time will tell what my future brings!

SR: If you could give a new girl advice, who is starting up in the racing world, what would it be?

Brittany: My advice to new ladies starting and even ladies that are racing right now is that we all do this for fun and that’s what it should always be about. Always follow your heart; you only live once and if you want to travel the world for racing, seriously, do it! I know some people think I’m crazy for the things I’ve done for racing, but I have so many amazing stories to tell people and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world!

SR: Awesome Brittany! Could you mention something about Hardcore Candy? What do you like about it and/or Amanda?

Brittany: This year this new company called Hardcore Candy got in touch with me and asked to help me out! Honestly, I was shocked and super happy! We talked for a while on the phone about the company and everything that they have planned for this upcoming season for the ladies! It all sounds amazing and I think that they will help this season so much with everything they have planned. Finally someone is wanting to represent the ladies first! It feels good that the ladies are finally getting noticed way more in the motocross industry all because of how big the series has become. I think everyone needs to check out Hardcore Candy and help get the name out there!

SR: Perfect. I think you will be an excellent rep for Amanda and her company. One final note Brittany, is there anyone you would like to thank?

Brittany: I would just like to thank – Hardcore Candy, Chaos Motocross, Kyle Swanson, and my family for always helping when needed and always supporting the women!

Thank you Brittany and Hardcore Candy! The countdown has begun and we couldn’t be more excited. Stay tuned for more updates next week on my blog!
