Squamish Adventures-Day 1 Of the Chevy Colorado Press Launch

About a month ago I received a call from GM Canada with an invite to attend their media launch for the all new Chevy Colorado pick-up truck. This awesome looking truck is GM’s reintroduction into the mid-size truck market. All of the journalists invite to BC this week are from adventure sports publications and blogs so it makes for a pretty interesting mix of thrill seekers. Each media member has three different activities to participate in over the two day event.

On day one I was chosen to go and try a version of rock climbing called ‘via-ferrata’, this is an Italian phrase which translate into ‘iron road’. It’s like a steel ladder attached to the side of a rock face, thankfully you’re harnessed in so it’s somewhat  safe. It was definitely a pretty cool experience and one that I would recommend to anyone who is near the Squamish area and wants to try something fun. I can’t wait to see what fun day two holds as I’m going side-by-siding and mountain biking. Here are a few I-Phone photos from the first day of my adventure.

The all new and pretty cool looking Chevy Colorado.

The view from the year old Sea To Sky Gondola was definitely awesome and a sign of what was to come.

At the top the view for lunch was pretty special.

My Via Ferrata guide Brad definitely could sense my slight apprehension about climbing up a 300 foot rock face. Thankfully I was wearing my new 100% sunglasses so I felt safe.

Brad was a little calmer than I was as we began our climb.

I think this is the universal climbing sign for ‘I think I’m about to die’.

This set up awaits me on day two.
