Team Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha Ready to Tackle 2015 MX1 & MX2 Nationals

Team Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha, like every other motocross team in Canada, has been anxiously anticipating the start of the 2015 Nationals, which are now rapidly approaching, kicking off this Sunday, May 31st in Kamloops, BC.

We are pleased to announce that our team, thanks to the invaluable support of all our sponsors, and hard work of our administrative and technical staff, is eagerly set to tackle another season in both the MX1 and MX2 title hunts.

Bobby Kiniry #7

Bobby Kiniry—long-time cornerstone of Team Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha—is back for another season in the MX1 class. Kiniry, who faced more than his fair share of racing misfortune in 2014, will be out to rectify his dropping from a No.2 ranking to No.7.

“Last year wasn’t exactly a season I look back on fondly, but racing is racing and you have to take things as they come and move on,” Kiniry said. “With a new season ahead of us, we’re all starting with a clean slate. 2014 is history. 2015 is what’s happening now!”

Matt Goerke, 2012 MX1 National Champion, has replaced Kyle Chisholm as Kiniry’s teammate. Chisholm, who nailed down a No.4 ranking last year, is remaining stateside to further pursue his career there.

Matt Goerke #101

With the MX1 roster more stacked than ever, Florida native Goerke knows he’s got his work cut out for him, but he’s ready for the challenge and will be gunning for another championship title to add to his resume.

“It’s a great feeling to be returning to Canada and joining up with a top professional team like Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha. I’m loving it and feeling really good about the whole thing,” Goerke said.

Returning to the team for a third season is Shawn Maffenbeier. The Saskatchewan native will again campaign the MX2 class, in which he scored a No.3 ranking last year and was one of just a handful of contenders to win a national round.

“I’m very happy to be back with the team for another season and eager to get things underway. Riding with a No.3 ranking is a real motivator for me. Anything less is going backwards so I know I need to go forwards and go for the title like never before,” Maffenbeier said.

Shawn Maffenbeier #14

OTSFF’s Andre Laurin, who is celebrating his 13th year of fielding pro teams in the CMRC organization, is, like everyone else involved with Team Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha, pumped about another championship season and the possibilities it represents.

“I’m definitely excited about Matt teaming up with Bob in MX1, and Shawn has proven he’s got what it takes to be a contender in MX2. Our entire product line is fantastic! The people at Yamaha are great to work with and supply us with the most excellent bikes,” Laurin said. “Rockstar has been behind us since 2006, and are a vital component of the team. If they weren’t racing, I’m not sure we would be either. And there’s our entire roster of sponsors, many of whom have been with us since 2009 or longer. We’re not just a team here, we’re a motosport family.”

Team Rockstar Energy OTSFF Yamaha is also excited to be bringing aboard three new sponsors this season, including Pirelli Tires, ODI MX Handlebars, and 2UNDER Performance Wear. Although Pirelli and ODI debuted with the team at the Las Vegas Supercross last October, Round 1 will be their official debut with the team in Canada.

2UNDER, who signed just recently with the team, is a leading edge underwear manufacturer based in Vancouver and founded in 2013. Using the most advanced construction techniques and materials, the company has successfully set out to?create a high performance men’s athletic underwear, which is being embraced by males of every stripe everywhere. 2UNDER sponsors many pro athletes from extreme like motocross, to less extreme like golf and baseball.

“It’s good to be working with friends again from the Ogio days. I go back a long ways with Andre Laurin and Brad Ewen [OTSFF Director of Marketing]. 2UNDER’s new, innovative action sports product line has given me a chance to get back into the game with them. I see our sponsorship with Rockstar OTSFF Yamaha as a very viable marketing opportunity,” 2UNDER’s Jeff Williams said.
