After entertaining us earlier in the year in the 250SX West class Cole Thompson will be back on the track this weekend at Walton Raceway. Cole will race the 450 class this weekend and the 250 class next weekend at Gopher Dunes on a YZ125.
This is the weekend we’ve been waiting for at Walton Raceway with not only Round 4 of the Triple Crown Series but also an XC race today, amateur and dirt track racing tomorrow. It’s going to be an exciting weekend in Motocross Town.
This week Cooper Webb announced that he has signed with the Red Bull KTM Factory Team for an SX-only deal in 2023. He also has plans to race the Paris SX in November.
Sadly while practicing this week at Gopher Dunes Julien Benek crashed hard and will be out for a few weeks. With Benek out the PRMX Team is rumoured to be bringing up Kiwi Josiah Natzke for this weekend at Walton.
One rider who is now healthy and will return this weekend to the FXR Pre-Mix class is Sam Gaynor. He’s been out for the past few months with a broken wrist and it will be great to see him back.
Ontario rider Drew Roberts will be doing the ironman thing this weekend at Walton Raceway as he will compete in the XC today, the dirt track race tomorrow, and then in the Pre-Mix class on Sunday. Good luck Drew!
Also in some more cool cross-over news, the GDR Honda Team will support off-road rider Christian Wiesner this weekend as he races in his first-ever Triple Crown Series race on Sunday.
In one of the most surprising bits of news this week Ken Roczen announced that he will be competing in the 2022 FIM World SX Championships later this year. Ken also spoke about returning in 2023 to race in the USA.
Each week we’ve been doing a Rider of the Week from the 2022 Triple Crown Series and today we’ve chosen Yamaha rider Quinn Amyotte who finished 5th OA at Round 3 and currently sits 6th in points.
