‘Tis the Season With Liam O’Farrell

Have you ever wondered what people in the Canadian motocross industry think about Christmas? Well, wonder no more as over the next few weeks we’re going to reach to some pro riders and industry people to ask them some key festive questions. Over the last few weeks we’ve spoken to riders like Ryan Lockhart, Brett Metcalfe and Colton Facciotti. We’ve also tracked down the elusive Walton Raceway owner Brett Lee for his thoughts on the holiday season. Well, for the final ‘Tis the Season of the year we decided to contact the rider involved in one of the biggest feel good stories of 2014. After starting the MX2 series at the mid-way point, Liam O’Farrell went on a tear in the east, chalking up some very good results including a podium finish at Round 7 in Deschambault. Let’s see what this South African-turned-Canadian has to say about this wonderful time of the year.

MXP: What is your best Christmas memory as a child?

LO: Just being home with my family and waking them up really early to open presents. I miss them.

Are you a big Christmas person or not?

I love Christmas, it’s a great time of year.

Where will you be spending Christmas this year?

I’ll be with Pam’s family in Buffalo.

Best Christmas gift you ever received?

My parents got me a GT BMX bike when I was 10, I rode that bike every day in the summer.

Have you even started your Christmas shopping yet?

Yeah, I was finished before December. I’m not big fan of shopping during the holiday season so I got it all done early.

Would you rather race another Regina mudder or have to go to Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve?

As I said, I hate shopping during the holiday season so give me some mud riding.

What do you want for Christmas this year?

I need some warm winter work clothes and of course the new MX vs ATV Supercross video game.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Good question … I’m going to have to go with Elf.

Be honest, do you wrap presents yourself?

Honestly, I tried but I’m not allowed to anymore. Apparently I don’t do a good enough job.

If you ever came face to face with Santa what would you ask him?

I would ask him to give me a ride in his sleigh! How cool would that be?!
