Yamaha Motor Canada Presents Behind the Lens From Riverglade Raceway

For this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Behind the Lens, we go back to a beautiful sunny east coast day in Moncton, NB. For over forty years the Riverglade MX track has been holding events for racers of all ages and skill levels. Located just feet from the Trans Canada Highway, this track has a little bit of everything for the riders, and for the past number of seasons it has been home to Round 8 of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals.

This past summer, when the series arrived at Riverglade MX Park, the riders in both the MX2 and MX1 classes were locked in a heated championship battle. With only two rounds remaining after the Moncton race, the stakes were high and the pressure on the riders and teams was immense. With the east coast fans being as knowledgeable as any on the planet, they knew how good the racing was going to be so they came in droves to watch all of the action.

This James Lissimore photo was taken after the second MX2 moto in which Shawn Maffenbeier had taken his second win of the day. As we all know, Maffenbeier went on to win the MX2 Championship, his first as a professional. As he was for most of the 2017 season, Maffenbeier was unbeatable and dominated both MX2 motos. As you can see in this photo, the weather was perfect and thousands of fans were in attendance for Round 8. The Riverglade National has always been one of the best attended races of the series. For years, Larry Northrup and his crew have taken such great pride in putting on a great race that it can’t help but be a major sporting attraction in the Moncton area. With this event back on the schedule for 2018, we’re sure the Riverglade Nationals will be another huge event in Canadian motocross.
