Yamaha Motor Canada Presents The Atlanta SX Photo Album
When the Monster Energy Supercross Series was forced to move its Atlanta round from the new and spacious Mercedes Benz Stadium to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, many wondered how adding another ‘Speedway’ race would affect the overall racing in the series. Well, after three races last year and one this past weekend at this unassuming venue, we think that the series should look at perhaps adding more of these types of races as the action on Saturday afternoon was once again incredible. In both the 450SX class as well as the 250SX East/West class, there were battles, crashes, passes, and just about everything else a SX fan could want. In the end, it was Jason Anderson who took the victory in the 450SX class, while Hunter Lawrence grabbed a hard-fought victory in the 250SX East/West Shootout. Now the Monster Energy Supercross moves to the Northeast and the home of the New England Patriots for Round 15.

Here is your Atlanta SX 250SX East/West podium. This is the view that the 450SX got of Jason Anderson in Atlanta. After a few weeks of being off of the pace Jason Anderson found his groove in Atlanta. Justin Barcia shows perfect form over one of the many jumps at Round 14. Barcia led early in the 450SX main event before getting passed and then crashing. The fast and spacious Atlanta track allowed the riders to battle. This is what racing in Atlanta looked like for most of the afternoon. After filling in for a few weeks on the Star Racing Yamaha Team Kyle Chisholm was back in the 450SX class in Atlanta. Christian Craig celebrates his podium finish in Atlanta. After missing the last few races with injury Austin Forkner was back at Round 14. Hunter Lawrence recovered from a hard crash on Friday to win the 250SX East/West main event. Jett Lawrence recovered from an early race crash to join his brother on the podium. Jett Lawrence will most likely clinch the 250SX East Championship this weekend in Foxborough. After taking the win last weekend in St Louis Marvin Musquin was unable to repeat in Atlanta. Eli Tomac holds on tight through the fast and challenging sand section. Chase Sexton was riding away to victory in the 450SX main event before he washed his front end and went down. Once again the lone Canadian on the gate in Atlanta was Guillaume St Cyr. After a long and fast start straight the riders had to fight hard for traction in the first turn. Malcolm Stewart was fast in Atlanta but a bad start in the main event ruined his chances of a podium finish. Eli Tomac pushed hard in the closing laps of the 450SX main event but couldn’t catch Anderson. Due to the rain that rolled through Atlanta on Saturday morning parts of the track were soft and rutted all day long. Something tells us that the Atlanta Motor Speedway venue is here to stay in the Monster Energy SX Series. Cooper Webb was back in Atlanta and looking like he finally wanted to win a main event in 2022.
