Zack Lewis Shines in Walton

Saturday and Sunday, September 6 and 7, 2014, saw dirt bike racers compete in the final round of the World Enduro Canada (WEC) Cross-Country Eastern Championships in Walton, Ontario and fans got their monies worth. Coming into the weekend, the favourite to win was Brian (Wojo) Wojnarowki with a six point lead over Zack Lewis but it didn’t end there. Saturday combined points from two one-hour motos and Lewis came out on top but not without a fight. The two riders put on quite a show. With Saturday finished, Brian was still three points ahead for the title.

18 year old Zack Lewis was on the gas at this weekend’s WEC race at Walton Raceway.

Sunday’s nail biter had the two pro Yamaha racers trading first and second place through the whole race right up to the very last lap where Lewis, the 18 year old upstart, blasted through for the win. The last race of the season behind them, the points are tied and a winner has to be declared. Both racers had the same amount of wins, then to second place finishes, the same again, and then to the third ruling which declares the overall winner as the racer who wins the final round. Lewis and his dad, Rick, didn’t know he had won the title until it was announced. A giant smile from Zack and a whoop from his dad said it all. We’ll be seeing more of this young racer for a long time.
