2018 Motocross of Nations – Team Canada Rider Selection
For the first time in a very long time, Team Canada MXON efforts had a problem with too many choices from a great list of Canadian MX ambassador’s and champions. In the end, Team Manager Kourtney Lloyd has gone with 4-time Canadian Champion and current MX Tour 450 Red Plater owner Colton Facciotti #37 MXGP Class, current 250 Red Plate holder Jess Pettis #38 MX2, and finally two-time Canadian champion and the rider that stole the hearts of MXON fans around the world in Italy 2016, Kaven Benoit #39 Open Class.
“With the race being held so close to home I wanted to give our country – knowing so many Canadians will be in attendance – the best shot to showcase our countries great racers,” shared Lloyd. “This was a tough year to make the decision with so many Canadians having great a year so far under the new structure in Canada with AX, MX, and SX determining who becomes champion. These extra events and pressure have shown the three names above are the riders for the job in October.”
Both Facciotti and Benoit are MXON veterans and each has delivered world-class results, but this will be the first-ever team nomination and acceptance for Jess Pettis. He knows it’s an honor and realizes the efforts put into to sending a team for Canada. With what he has shown thus far in 2018 he will no doubt be a great asset on the biggest stage the Motocross world has to offer.
The 2018 Motocross of Nations takes place and arguably the most well-known race track around the globe: Red Bud MX. On October 6-7, 2018 Team Canada will be there with three athletes ready to show the world our passion for Motocross. This is something you’re not going to want to miss
