Cycle North Paints the Podium Red at Round One of the Canadian Arenacross Series

November 11, 2013

The first weekend of the Future West Arenacross series took place this past weekend in Chilliwack, BC inside Heritage Park. Cycle North Riders Jeremy Medaglia and Ross Johnson joined a 22 Pro rider field as the series put rounds 1-2 in the books. Excitement was in the air all weekend long with the anticipation hopes of awesome race action and the Cycle North riders battling for the win. Ross Johnson was able to grab the box in both Pro Open finals going 3-2. Teammate Jeremy Medaglia grabbed two seconds on Friday night and scored the teams’ first victory on Saturday in Pro Lites in impressive fashion.

Cycle North Honda is very excited to bring Washington native Ross Johnson back after a great summer at the MonsterEnergy Motocross Nationals to battle for a Canadian Arenacross championship. “I love Arenacross,” shared Ross Johnson. “When Cycle North offered me this ride I was stoked to be back with the team for this winter and knew I could be a threat for this title. Night one didn’t go entirely as I planned going 5-3 in the mains. I dealt with some arm pump in the first main, but managed to get rid of it for the rest of the weekend and hit the podium twice in the Open class. The competition was awesome this weekend and I was right there in every race. Always good to get that first one out of the way and see where I fit.”

A month ago Cycle North made the announcement of bringing Jeremy Medaglia out for the series. The first weekend proved that it was a good move for the team. “I’m so excited to be out here and riding a Cycle North Honda,” said Jeremy Medaglia. “I’ve never really rode a full Arenacross series so I was a tad nervous about how I was going to do. I’m confident obviously but with the list of names racing and not really having experience in this barn you just never know right? Once I got the bike dialed in practice Thursday and scored a 2nd in that first main. I knew I could be a guy that will be fighting for a title. On Saturday I took a win in the Lites and that just made the weekend awesome. Getting that has me pumped for the next round already. I had so much fun this weekend. I can’t thank the team enough for the chance.”
“I am extremely excited about the way the series kicked off for both Ross and Jeremy,” stated Team Manager Kourtney Lloyd. “It’s always nervous starting a series, but I was certain we did our homework by hiring two solid riders to chase for this title. They came out healthy and are right where we expected them to be in hopes to claim a championship by series end.”
The next round of Future West Arenacross is November 22nd and 23rd. Both Jeremy and Ross will be ready to do battle aboard their Cycle North Honda’s. Hope to see you there!!!
