Iain Hayden takes overall at Lindsay Exhibition Grounds

Team Rockstar Energy Polaris Racing’s Iain Hayden nailed down the overall win in the Pro Open class this past weekend at the Lindsay Exhibition Grounds in Lindsay, ON.

While his archrival in the points chase Colby Crapo grabbed victory in the final on Saturday, Hayden took the win on Sunday.

On Saturday Hayden finished in second place behind Crapo in the final; Crapo found himself in that position on Sunday behind Hayden. In the heat races on Saturday, Hayden stayed in the mix snaring second place in heat one and taking the win in heat two.

In Sunday’s heat races Hayden went 3-1. A poor start in the first race saw Hayden get no farther than third place on the tight Exhibition Grounds track. Two red flags called for restarts in the second heat, which saw Hayden snare the holeshot on the last restart to easily take the win.

In the final, Hayden was a bit tentative getting out of the gate, running in fourth after the first turn. Halfway into the lap he managed to install himself into second, where he ran for most of the race, relentlessly hounding Crapo who was on a mission to record a clean sweep.

With a few laps to go, however, Hayden made a calculated move on Crapo to take over the lead, finishing there when the checkered flag was waved.

“It was tough track to make a pass on so good starts were very important and I didn’t get the best of starts in some of the races. I definitely had my work cut out for me and I had to be extra creative in my battles with Colby. The team did a great job behind the scenes and my IQ ran great, which helped me get the job done just a bit easier,” Hayden said.

Hayden’s Pro Lite teammate Jacob Rosko-Fong, who is recovering from injuries received at Round 3 in Quebec City, did not start in Lindsay and is not expected back in action until Round 6 in Barrie, ON.

Round 5 of the Rockstar Energy CSRA Snowcross Series takes place this weekend in Valcourt, QC on February 14-15.
