You would think that being a stay at home mom, I’d have time to write. Well, 11pm is about the only time my house is quiet enough for me to think. Tomorrow is the first day of spring….woohoo! The snow is finally starting to melt; hopefully this is the last stretch. Who’s excited for this weekend’s Toronto Supercross? I can’t wait!
Toronto Supercross is always an exciting family weekend! We love to go as a family and watch the racing live. This year for Preston to be part of the show is even more exciting. As I wrote last time, Preston will be part of the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge. He’s excited to be a part of this, but he’s as cool as a cucumber! He’s not nervous in the least; no race phases this boy. I need to learn to take a page out of his book as I have been nervous about this all week, especially when I go on Twitter and see things like ‘2013 TransCan Champion, Preston Masciangelo in for Toronto SX, watch for him.’ Geez, the pressure! I don’t know why I’m so nervous, he races all the time. I’m excited that the grandparents, his uncle and aunt are also coming. Since we started doing a lot of racing in the States it’s hard for family members to come watch. The Brantford Expositer also did an article on him this week. He was excited to take that to school and show his classmates. The highlight of Preston’s week was probably when a classmate’s grandfather called and asked for information as they wanted to come to Supercross and watch him. He’s definitely feeling quite famous this week.
Preston has been very lucky; we even borrowed a KTM to practice on for the race. As you know, he races Cobras now and they are quite different. His first practice out, you wouldn’t have known it wasn’t his bike. He went to Chesterman’s indoor track and was doing the whoops section faster than he does on his Cobra. Tomorrow he will be taking it to an arenacross school, as a last practice before the weekend. As I said, he is taking this all in stride and hoping for a good race. I will be a nervous wreck until the race is over. I just hope he rides as he usually does and keeps it on two wheels. I wish all the 15 riders the best of luck. This is an incredible experience to be a part of.
This past weekend was Preston’s birthday. Hard to believe my baby boy is now 8. He chose not to have a big party as we are saving for the Vegas trip. Instead we had a family get together and went to Joyride for the day. He loves that place. If he can’t be on his dirt bike he will be on his BMX. He will ride the whole day there. Brooklyn is becoming quite the expert at the ramps on her strider as well.
There’s not much going on in our lives right now until racing starts. I look forward to the day our motorhome comes out of storage. As busy as our spring/summer/fall gets it sure beats being stuck at home all the time in the winter. So next time you hear me complaining because I have to pack for the weekend remind me how bad this winter had been. Lol
Thanks again to MXP and for all who continue to read my story. Have a great weekend!
