It’s so important the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals keep evolving and progressing each year. This year is a big one for the series with major changes made in key areas. We believe we’ve made it more attractive for you, the fans.
The first major change in 2012 is the addition or switch to two Saturday nationals, the first being at the Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops, BC on June 9th, and the second at Gopher Dunes in Courtland, ON, July 14th; moving the Amateur races to the following Sunday. It had been talked about and now it’s happening. This year will be a test to monitor its success, so more Saturday Nationals may be added in the future.
With the Women’s Nationals moved to amateur days, which now opens the door for the 50cc and Super Mini classes to act as the support classes. This provides the Women the spotlight on amateur day, plus it gives the fans and young racers striving to become Pro a chance to ride the track on Pro day in front of their heroes and families.
Most likely the best addition to the series this year is the availability of Live Scoring. MXP’s website, www.mxpmag.com, hosts the live streaming radio show so now you can follow each race lap by lap on www.cmrcracing.com on your PC, tablet, or mobile device. With both of these live concepts, you’ll feel like you are leaning on the fence watching the race live.
A media crawl will be happening at Nanaimo for the teams and riders to meet the groups that take their pics, perform interviews and make them look like the heroes they are that publish everything in magazines or on the web. On top of this, each host hotel will have a media night prior to each race in a conference room to allow the local and industry media to meet and greet teams, racers and series personnel. Stay tuned to www.cmrcracing for more info leading up to each round.
Sponsors play a big role with the series and the 2012 version has additions that will help us make each round that much more special. The Monster Energy Motocross Nationals would like to welcome to the family Honda Canada, Marin Bikes, plus Motovan OEMs including Drift, EBC Brakes, EVS, One Industries, TCX boots, and K&N Filters.
Last year we made our first attempt at the final round and it was amazing, except the weather put a damper on things. This year, all nine rounds of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals will be shot in High Definition ensuring the best quality for the viewer at home on Rogers Sportsnet.
This is not brand new but there will be information, news and gossip circulating more than ever before. You can now get info through Twitter @CMRCRacing and Facebook – CMRCMX – and find updated news and pics from every race. Also be sure to hit up @mxpmagazine on Twitter and Facebook because the CMRC boys can’t do it all.
The biggest feature that is not new but is always amazing each and every year is the racers that give us a reason to attend the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals. The money, effort, time, sacrifice, and passion that each one of the very best of the best give us from round to round is astonishing from any vantage point. Whether you’re a fan to visit the track for the very first time, an enthusiast that never misses a round, or just someone that loves motocross, these racers are here to put a show on for you and for that we thank you very much.
So there you have it, a breakdown of major changes you can expect from Nationals for 2012. We hope to see you there!!
