Brigden, ON, (Tuesday, November 10th, 2015) – The last two rounds of the Canadian National Arenacross Tour took place this past weekend in Calgary, AB. Titles were won and champions were named, but not without a fight till the very end. The battle between Hayes and Thompson from day one made this event one for the books. Fans were treated to some of the best indoor racing ever seen on Canadian soil and those who could not attend in person, had the opportunity to watch from the comfort of their own homes thanks to the Valvoline Live Broadcast. This past weekend concluded the Tour and one name stood out amongst them all: Monster Energy Thor Kawaski rider, Jacob Hayes.
On Friday night, in a clean battle, Cole Thompson led the AX Lites with Hayes and Blose right behind him. Jacob Hayes managed to take the victory in the AX Main, but due to a run in with teammate Chris Blose early in the Clash for Cash, lost his chance that night at the AX Tour Triple Crown presented by Parts Canada prize of $25,000. With Cole Thompson taking the win in the Clash, this left Hayes with just one more chance to win the big money and claim the #1 plate for next season.
On day two, Hayes came in with the mindset to win and he did just that. Taking almost every victory in all three classes, this left Hayes $25,000 richer and also claiming all three Championship titles. Thompson won the AX Lites of the night but due to not having a bike ready for the Eastern rounds, was just short of that championship title ending up 3rd overall in the class. He also ended up 2nd in both the AX Main and Clash. Blose having gave both Hayes and Thompson a run for their money, couldn’t quite manage the title but did take home a second and two thirds for the series.
The Tour is beyond thankful for all the riders (amateurs and pros) who came out and made the first year a huge success. Year one has proven that a sport like this has its place here in Canada and will only get better with each passing year.
