The Next Chapter for the Canadian National Arenacross Tour

Brigden, ON, (March 20,2016) As we reflect on the 2015 indoor arenacross series, we are so grateful for the quality of support from our partners and the motocross community to be able to successfully host the inaugural Canadian National Arenacross Tour.  What began as a far fetched idea 5 years ago, was brought to reality for Canadians by Jetwerx International.  For the first time in close to 15 years, Canada once again has a national indoor series. ” Having operated a successful arenacross series in the Southern USA, it was always a big dream of mine to bring the Tour to Canada.  In my era of racing, it was common to see riders like Doug DeHaan, JSR, Blair Morgan racing indoors all across the US, but now it seems that our current crop of amateurs don’t have that opportunity in our country.  Racing indoors year round was a major factor in Cole’s success and his technique. With that goal in mind we set out to develop a program to help form our athletes to be more competitive on a world stage.” -Justin Thompson, CEO – Jetwerx International.

The AX Tour visited London, Sarnia, Penticton and Calgary along the 8 Round journey where some of North America’s top professional and amateur racers battled to carve their name in the record books as being the first Canadian National Arenacross Tour Champions.

The Canadian National Arenacross Tour presented by Royal Distributing saw an intense eight round dual between Royal Distribution Fox Ktm’s Cole Thompson and Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki’s Jacob Hayes.  After feeling the series out in London, the mind games began when the two were playing cat-and-mouse under the Hiawatha lights  in the Sarnia main events.  Penticton, British Colombia marked the halfway point of the series and the beginning of the Western amateur rounds.  With extreme tension going into the series finale in Calgary, Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki’s Jacob Hayes kept his cool, rode consistent and went on to win the Lites, Open and Clash for Cash divisions.  In addition to sweeping all three titles, Hayes also won 3 out of 4 races in the Clash for Cash securing him the $25,000 “Axtour Triple Crown Bonus” presented by Parts Canada.    “It was such a cool experience being able to come up to Canada and race against some of the the best riders in the country, I had a lot of fun. I thought the series and the way the schedule was laid out was awesome. Overall for its first year the series went awesome.” said Jacob Hayes, Team Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki.

We would like to extend our appreciation to all parties involved in making the inaugural Canadian Arenacross Tour a  huge success and to the motocross families across Canada for the warm welcoming and positive response to the AXTour. We’d like to thank our series partners Monster Energy, Royal Distributing, Parts Canada and Valvoline, who collaborated with JetWerx to provide a free live stream for the entire series, something that has been unprecedented for moto fans in Canada.

“I believe that the future of our sport revolves around progression. Arenacross is part of that process to allow our Canadian riders to become competitive on a global scale. These are baby steps to create an indoor series that is viewed on a world level. This will allow the Axtour riders to develop there skills and be competitive on a world stage someday.” says Thompson

With momentum building into season two we are just weeks away from a new schedule, new partners and very bright future plans of the AX Tour.
