Yamaha Motor Canada Presents Behind the Lens From Delaware

When the gate dropped on the main events at Round 2 of the Rockstar Energy Triple Crown SXTour Series, our top riders blasted off of the dark starting line with two things in mind. The first was to put on a great show for all of the fans that had packed into Delaware Speedway, the second thing the riders wanted to do was just make it through the night safely. With a very technical track in front of them and limited lighting to guide them, the Delaware SX was as much about survival as it was about scoring valuable Triple Crown points. However, one of the big things that has always amazed me about our pro riders is their ability to race and entertain fans in any condition presented to them. On Saturday night, the riders battled like they were racing Anaheim 1, keeping the fans on the edge of their seat in both main events. Eventually, Jess Pettis and Cole Thompson were victorious over Shawn Maffenbeier and Colton Facciotti in the 250 Pro/Am and 450 classes respectively. It was a great night of racing and once again James Lissimore was there to capture it all for this week’s Yamaha Motor Canada Behind the Lens.

Marco Cannella rode smart and consistent in Delaware and continued his amazing rookie year.

Cole Thompson continued his indoor dominance at Round 2 taking the win in the 450 class.

After fighting off challenges from Matt Goerke and Colton Facciotti, Thompson rode off with the win in Delaware.

This incredible photo shows just how dark it was on some parts of the track on Saturday night in Delaware.

Colton Facciotti rode hard in Delaware but came up just short of the win in the 450 class.

With talk that the OTSFF Yamaha Team is going to consist of three riders in 2019, Dillan Epstein will be looking for some more consistency next year.

Logan Karnow can sure ride SX well and once again he proved it in Delaware.

The mood was obviously light in the Kawasaki pits all day.

Shawn Maffenbeier led the 250 main event for a few laps before being passed by Jess Pettis. However, his second place secured Maff the 250 Triple Crown Title and the 10,000 that goes with it.

While he is still recovering from a crash in Moncton, Keylan Meston was in Delaware helping out Wyatt Waddell.

The Jess Pettis train just kept rolling on Saturday night in Delaware. Hopefully this country’s fastest 250 rider can do the same in Red Bud on October 7th.

After some of his rides during the past few months, there is no doubting who #1 is in the 250 class.

Phil Nicoletti grabbed the early lead in Delaware and would go on to finish in third overall in the 450 class.

We hope this champagne was warm as the temperatures in Delaware were chilly once the sun went down.

The Rockstar girls let the riders know when it’s time for the gate to drop on Round 2.

Colton Facciotti’s MXoN’s GDR Fox Honda was on display in Delaware and man does it look good.

We think this gives you an idea of how hard packed the dirt was in Delaware.

As promised, the track for Round 2 of the SXTour was a little bigger and a lot more technical than any track we’ve seen in 2018.

Jake Tricco had a great night in Delaware and finished 5th in the 250 class.

USA rider Cody Vanbuskirk came out of nowhere and finished 4th overall in the 450 main event.

Wyatt Waddell didn’t have a great night in Delaware. This came as a surprised as he looked great in practice.

Even supercross tracks need a little water. See you all in Quebec City on November 3rd.
