Since the mid-’90s, the Arenacross Series in BC has been going strong, and you could say that over the years it has played a direct role in the successful careers of Darcy Lange, Dusty Klatt and Colton Facciotti. All three BC riders spent a lot of time battling it out in the arenas of the Lower Mainland of our most western province. Since those early days, this series has changed hands as well as venues a few times; today it’s officially called the Future West Canadian AX Championships. With numerous amateur and pro entries over each weekend, the series is as popular as it’s ever been.
This past weekend the 2018/19 series kicked off in the series’ only location this year, the Heritage Arena in Chilliwack. With the venue being very large inside, it allowed track builder Kyle Beaton to construct a multi-lane technical track that had something for everyone. Both nights provided entertaining racing to kick-off the series, and James Lissimore was there to capture a few of the coolest moments. With the opening rounds now in the books, Rounds 3 and 4 will once again take place this weekend in Chilliwack.

After sitting out most of 2018 with injuries, it was great to see Brock Leitner back on the track this past weekend.

With his usual off-season scruff already in full bloom, Shawn Maffenbeier was on fire this weekend in Chilliwack.
