We’re extremely lucky in this country to have had so many great riders over the years. One of those riders is Jean Sebastien Roy and this week we have his Top 10 favourite racing moments from his incredible career. As you will read, JSR’s best moments come from a wide range of races in many different countries. From Canada, to the USA, to Europe, JSR had success in both supercross and outdoor racing. I know he had a hard time narrowing it down but here are JSR’s Top 10 best moments.

1. Montreal Supercross: Hometown Wins
Racing in Olympic Stadium was always very cool, and over the years it was by far my favourite race. From the first win there in 1996 to my final win in 2008, each one was very special. I think the wins in 1996 and 2008 really stand out because in those years I wasn’t really expected to win. The crowd was always loud and they really loved when I was able to run up front. I can still hear the crowd going crazy and cheering for me!
2. 2004 or 2005: Supercross in Germany
At the Dortmund SX in Germany I won the overall and won a car. It was a three-day race and I was able to beat Alessi by one point for the overall. It was my most lucrative weekend ever. I started last on Sunday for the final main event. My pass on the last lap gave me 6th place and the extra point I needed to take the overall.
3. Stade of France in 1999: French Supercross
That year I won my semi in front of many top factory guys and fast European riders. The race track was the biggest indoor track ever built. The stadium was new and it was the latest and greatest ever built in France. It was a long track but definitely a fun track.
4. Troy Ohio 1996: Hot Day in Ohio
That year I was able to grab the holeshot and battle with some great riders in both 250 motos. It was so hot that day and the track was tough. I recall having a great battle with Damon Bradshaw, which was very cool.
5. Mount Morris in 2005: Two-Stroke Tuesday
On my way back home after my spring training with RC in Georgia, I decided to stop and race the Mt. Morris National. All I had was my little pick up and trailer with my two-stroke practice bikes. I ended up holeshotting one moto against all of the factory four-strokes and finishing 8th overall. It was great day and it certainly gave me confidence heading into our Canadian Nationals.
6. 2001-2003 – Battles with Superman
Blair Morgan and I had many great battles during the 2001-2002 and 2003 season. Regina, Joliette, Barrie, pretty much every weekend. We always battled hard but always raced each other clean. Also, it was cool because we were on the same team so we would race hard and then be under the same tent.

7. Unadilla 1999: Top Five
This is where I battled for many laps behind Windham, and it was my best finish with a 4th place in the opening 250 moto. Also, a few weeks before Unadilla I had another Top 5 finish at Budds Creek. I was riding Hondas that year and was racing full time in the USA.
8. Ulverton National – Racing in my Backyard
This track wasn’t far from my house and I used to ride my road bike there on the morning of the races. I always had good results there as I loved racing close to home and in front of my friends and family. It was also a great track for racing and for spectators.

9. Supercross 2001-2003: Great SX Memories
One year I was part of the opening ceremonies at many of the AMA SX races, which was very cool. But overall, racing SX in those years was very cool as it was the McGrath, Emig, RC and even Chad Reed era. Being on the starting line with those riders was very intense but a lot of fun at the same time. Also, the tracks in those days were very technical so you had to be at your best every weekend. I definitely have a lot of great memories from those years.
10. 2001 in Nova Scotia: Racing with Lange
That year, at Mitch Cooke’s track in NS, I had a great battle with Darcy Lange in one of the 250 motos. Darcy was still young but he was fit and very determined. We battled for the entire moto and by the end we were both exhausted. I didn’t have too many battles with him but that was one of the best!
