Friday at the Walton TransCan is always an exciting day as it’s the first day when the Champions begin to get crowned. It all begins with the 250 Intermediate class, who are not only the first moto of the week, but also the first class to have its third moto and championship decided. This year it was GDR Honda rider and Manitoba native Ryder McNabb who took home that honour. Since he first showed up at the TransCan McNabb has been a winning machine, and 2020 was no different. Next up was the popular Vet 30B class which had the third and final moto go down to the last corner. It was the best battle that we’ve seen all week at Walton Raceway and in the end Steve Simms took the final moto win and Vet 30B Championship over his friend and neighbour Devin Train. It was a spirited battle between the two Yamaha riders that had people running from one side of the track to the other to see what might happen next. Just more incredible Friday Walton TransCan memories.

It’s been a glorious week at Walton Raceway and so far, Mother Nature has given us sunny skies and very warm temperatures. With a chance of rain in the forecast for late Saturday and early Sunday, we’ll take the sun while we can get it. Anyway, with the sun shining bright the final 50 GP moto blasted off of the starting line for its third and final moto of the week. Once again, young BC rider Braxton Zeitner dominated the final moto and took his second 50GP title in a row. Next up was the youngest of the Ladies Class featuring riders that aged from 9-16. Malia Garant, a fast rider from Quebec took home that TransCan Title with a solid 1-3-1 moto score.
After a short break to fix up the Walton Raceway track, which was doing its best to survive the hot baking sun and a strong August breeze, the Supermini class left the gate for their final moto of the week. Just as he did in each of the previous two motos, Evan Stewart grabbed the early lead and never looked back. This class is always a fan favourite and this year it was once again entertaining. This class also featured the most riders from different Provinces as almost everyone was represented. After the Supermini moto was done all that was left was the 65 (7-9) class and the 250 JR Class. Both were superb races and in the end, it was Quebec rider Alex Guadagno who took the TransCan title over Braxton Zeitner. The final moto of the day was the 250 JR Class which featured 40 very talented riders. However, as good as they all were, 39 of them were chasing Sebastien Racine on his orange KTM. Racine won this title and is well on his way to clean sweep in all of the JR classes, so look for that tomorrow.
