MXP: Well, Newf, your summer adventure in the East is now over. We hope you had a good time and a safe trip home. Overall, how was your week at the 2026 Walton TransCan?
RL: Hard to believe another summer has come and gone. I swear they seem to click by faster and faster every year. All in all, it was a fun and busy summer and most importantly the kids seemed like they enjoyed themselves with lots of outdoor actives which we don’t get to do as easily back here on the west coast. Transcan was awesome this year, I really enjoyed the new weekly schedule, track changes and just the overall improvement to the facility. The Keast family killed it and I’m excited to see what they have in store for years to come. I’m bummed that I didn’t race and really had some FOMO all week, but we will try hard in 2027 to get back on the gate.
MXP: Despite facing a lot of pressure at the final round of the Triple Crown Series, your GDR boys got the job done and came away with two titles. How proud were you with their efforts, and were you more nervous for Dylan Rempel or Dylan Wright in those final laps?
RL: Yes, I was very proud on the season in general. Of course, the riders got the job that needed to be done, but the team as a whole really stepped it up especially after a few hard years. The team made a lot of hard decisions and changes in the off season which can play games mentally, over thinking if it was the right decision, but let me tell you all the decisions that were made were the right ones. I was extremely stressed on the 250 side of things, but Rempel was locked in from the moment I saw him Sunday morning. He was fasted in both qualifying sessions, won moto one, and played smart in moto two. For a young kid who has never been in this position before, I was so impressed with how focused he was Sunday morning. I need to take a moment to thank not only the riders but the whole team. This was a year to remember for me.
MXP: The final round of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championships is this weekend at Ironman Raceway, and the Lawrence Brothers are just one point apart in the standings. How do you see this playing out when the dust settles on Saturday afternoon?
RL: I think this will be fun to watch and I’m curious to see how hard these guys will race each other. Hunter has to want this bad especially with the big swing in points after Unadilla and then for things to go perfect for him at Budds. It’s hard for me to bet against Jet as he always seems to get the job done, but Hunter has been so damn good, starts have been better than Jett all year and look how good Hunter was at MXON. Pick a name out of the hat, but I will go with Hunter. I think he gets it done.
