The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Atlas Brace Canada

MXP: Hey Newf! We’re back, finally! It’s been a busy few weeks for you and Kyle and your West Coast AX Team. Overall, how did the two weekends go?
RL: In my eyes, things went really well. I really feel like we executed everything that we said we were going to do from the image of the series, to the track, and to the experience for our riders. When you are promoting races, there will always be things thrown at you that you are not expecting, but the staff that Kyle and I had in place are all experienced and handled everything with professionalism. Looking back, there are always things that you would like to tweak, but that’s why there is always next year. Our two weekends are already locked in for 2026, and we are trying to potentially secure two more weekends in October to make it an eight-round series rather than four.

MXP: This was your (along with Kyle Beaton) first year in charge of organizing and running this long-standing Indoor Series. Looking back now, what was the most challenging part of the process?
RL: I think just getting the ball rolling at the beginning. We were pretty much starting from scratch when it came to social media, sponsor packages, and promotional material. It was a learning curve for both of us but honestly, once we got going, everything seemed to fall into place pretty easily. With both of us being ex-racers, we wanted to give the customer the best experience, but you quickly find out that trying to make everyone happy isn’t always going to be the case.

MXP: There has been some big news during this off-season in Canadian moto. Whether it’s been riders signing with new teams, or Cole Thompson travelling the World racing SX, or the recent change in ownership at Walton Raceway. What do you make of Kyle Keast and his Family taking over not just Walton Raceway, but also the Walton TransCan?
RL: I love everything about the Keast takeover. We had him on our CMXU Podcast a week ago, and it sounds like Kyle has the right attitude and vision for what Walton needed. The Lee’s have done an incredible job, and it will be weird not seeing them be a part of this, but I really think change is good in this situation. New ideas, fresh faces, and change get people excited.
