Behind The Lens Presented By Leatt Canada- Atlanta Supercross
For the past few seasons, Atlanta Motor Speedway has been a good backdrop for Supercross. With its unique track design and spacious grandstands, this Speedway looks like it will be a permanent stop on the Monster Energy Supercross tour. Also, this race always provides some great race action, and 2023 was no different. With the main events in the late afternoon, Round 13 in Atlanta offered SX fans a little different. In the end, the results weren’t too surprising as Hunter Lawrence won the 250SX East class, and Chase Sexton kept his Honda on two wheels to win the 450SX. With just four rounds remaining in this epic series and six points separating them, it appears that Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb will take their championship battle down to the final round in Salt Lake City. Haiden Deegan has a lot of talents and one of them is his starting ability. The starts in the 450SX class have been very important in 2023. Fresh off the birth of his new child Jason Anderson was fast but understandably tired in Atlanta. There were great battles all over the track in Atlanta. Chris Blose just keeps plugging away as a Pro Circuit fill in rider. It wasn’t a perfect day in Atlanta for Deegan, but he was very good when it mattered most. It was great to see Milt from FXR Canada in Atlanta. This is what an Atlanta air show looks like.There was a 250 two-stroke in the 450SX main event at Round 13. Hunter Lawrence just keeps rolling in the 250SX East Series. Chase Sexton was able to make some early passes to take the lead in the 450SX main event. Jeremy Martin had a good main event going until a late race crash caused him to DNF. Josiah Natzke is using the 250SX East Series to prepare for the Triple Crown Series this summer. Ken Roczen had a great race in Atlanta and was able to keep Sexton honest for the entire race. After crashing himself out of a few main event leads this season, Sexton was able to hold on for the win in Atlanta. After missing the entire 250SX East Series with an injury Shimoda was back for Round 13. Nate Thrasher definitely needed some good healing vibes after his hard crash. After a bad start in the 450SX main event, Tomac rode a very smart race to finish 5th. Tomac tackles the Atlanta wall during the main event. Although Webb finished 4th in the 450SX main event, he closet rival in Tomac was 5th. The two title favourites were this close for the entire 450SX main event. Dean Wilson had a great race in Atlanta and finished up in 8th. Hunter Lawrence takes the win in the 250SX East main event. The top three congratulate each other after a hard fought main event.
