This past weekend, the 2024 SuperMotocross Series headed to the home of country music, Nashville, TN, for Round 14. Entering this race, Jett Lawrence and Cooper Webb were tied atop the 450SX points standings, and fans were anticipating another exciting battle. Unfortunately, Nashville turned into Smashville, and several top riders crashed out of the 450SX main event and the 250SX East/West main event. Yes, it was not a great night for Series, as we lost several riders to injuries. In the end, Jett Lawrence dominated the 450SX main event, while RJ Hampshire won the 250SX East/West race. Now, the Series moves to a new venue in Philadelphia for Round 15. However, before we turn our attention to the City of Brotherly Love, let’s return to Nashville with some great photos by Matt Wellumson.
Nashville marked the return of Dean Wilson who had been out with a shoulder injury since Daytona. After a great 450SX heat race battle, Adam and Hunter congratulate each other. Casey Cochran has been impressive in his first two pro races. Justin Cooper continues to impress in his first full season in the 450SX class. The Nashville round also celebrated the continued relationship between Supercross and St Jude’s Children Hospital. With rain on Friday the Nashville track was soft and rutted during qualifying. After two sub-par weekends, Jett Lawrence got back on track with a win in Nashville. Jett once again made a challenging track look easy at Round 14. The rider who finished second in the KJSC race came all the way from Dubai. It was not a good day for the red plate holders as both McAdoo and Kitchen had crashes. Jo Shimoda had a good night in Nashville and finally looks to be getting back on track. Eli Tomac grabbed the early lead in the 450SX main event. Tomac led the 450SX main event for several laps before Lawrence jetted by. Cole Thompson rode great in Nashville and just missed a top ten finish. Tom Vialle rode solid and regained the points lead in the 250SX East Series. Cooper Webb had nothing for Jett and Eli in Nashville as he said that he did not feel comfortable on the track.
