450SX Class: Indianapolis Stats

  • The first race was held on March 21, 1992, and Jeff Stanton won on a Honda
  • There has not been a first-time winner in Indianapolis
  • This will be the 22nd time the gate will drop for a 450SX Class race in Indianapolis
  • This will be the fifth race at Lucas Oil Stadium; the previous races were held at the RCA Dome
  • Indiana native Mike Larocco won the last 450SX Class race of his career in Indianapolis on a Honda
  • LaRocco went 14 seasons from his first win to his last win
  • Jeremy McGrath won three consecutive races in Indianapolis from 1993-1996, and Ryan Villopoto also won three consecutive races from 2010-2012. With a win this year, Villopoto can be the first rider to win four consecutive races in Indianapolis.
  • McGrath holds the all-time win record in Indianapolis with six; Ricky Carmichael is in second place with four
  • Carmichael and Chad Reed are the only two riders to win in both classes in Indianapolis
  • Carmichael won in Indianapolis on three different brands: Kawasaki, Honda, and Suzuki

  • Ryan Villopoto won Daytona for the third time in his career; it was his fifth win of the season and he passed Rick Johnson for fifth on the all-time 450SX Class win list with 29 wins
  • Ryan Dungey earned a second-place finish, marking his sixth podium of the season
  • Justin Barcia earned a third-place finish, marking his fourth podium of the season
  • Eli Tomac earned his best 450SX Class finish with a fourth; he is currently second in the Western Regional 250SX Class season point standings
  • Last weekend was Reed’s 158th career 450SX Class start, and he finished fifth; it was his 137th career top-five finish
  • Trey Canard finished sixth, making him one of three racers to have a top-10 finish in each Main Event. He is joined in this category by Davi Millsaps and Dungey
  • Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen earned a seventh-place finish on his KTM 350 motorcycle
  • Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart earned his seventh top-10 finish of his season with an eighth
  • Andrew Short made his 100th career 450SX Class start

  • Mickael Pichon and Davi Millsaps are the only riders to win in Indianapolis in consecutive seasons, can Blake Wharton join them?
