Matrix Concepts Canada Presents 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart

Well, after a busy summer of racing and travelling, we finally tracked down Ryan Lockhart to ask him some more important and entertaining questions. As most of you know, Ryan has been in this industry for over twenty years and during that time he’s been a rider, a mechanic, a riding coach, and most recently the Brand Manager over at Matrix Concepts Canada. Ryan knows a lot about a lot of things and he’s always a great guy to talk to. Here are this week’s 3 Q’s with Ryan Lockhart presented by Matrix Concepts Canada.

MXP: Newf, we haven’t spoken in a while. Overall, how was your summer in Ontario?

RL: Thanks for reaching out. Summer was good. Originally we (my family and I) planned to be in Ontario for most of it but we ended up making it as far as New Brunswick and spent some time in Quebec. You know what it’s like to have an idea and plan in your head of how things are going to work and play out before it happens, but then once you get into it things change. Anyway, I will say it was a nice change of pace and scenery for my family and me and we all had fun. Meston had a blast making new buddies at the track. Randi, of course, had her hands full with Bowen being so young but honestly, it was all good.

We know you had some ups and downs on your family travels this summer. What are a couple of most memorable moments?

Well, it was not in the plans to get into a car accident and write the truck off only a few weeks into it (laughs, but it happened and I’m glad that everyone was okay. I also have to throw a huge shout-out to Ryan Gauld and the Truth North Motorsports crew for really saving our asses on that one. They borrowed us a truck for our remaining time on the east. Another shoutout to Steve and Steven Anderson for hauling our trailer and bikes back to BC.

However, we had some great times and the first Walton National was great with Ryder {McNabb} winning and being a Championship contender right out of the gate. Meston did well in all his races and having the opportunity to race big races was awesome for him. I also brought the whole family back to Fox Hollow for a big reunion race was awesome. I saw so many people I haven’t seen for years and that was unforgettable. Honestly, just being able to have the opportunity to be on the road for 50 days with my wife and kids was great. Bowen is a little young which adds a lot of work but plain and simple we were just all making memories.

That’s amazing Newf! Okay, we have a very good Team Canada for this weekend in Italy. With no Team USA and a couple of top Euro riders either out or riding with injuries. This could be setting up really well for our boys. How do you see our team of Dylan Wright, Tyler Medaglia, and Jacob Piccolo finishing this weekend?

If the boys ride to their potential and have a little luck on their side I see a Top 8 no problem. I don’t know a lot about the track but all three of our guys have proven they can ride anything. I’m excited for them that’s for sure. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Dylan can do on the world stage. Go Canada Go!
