For immediate release

Kamloops, BC(May 23, 2014) With the kickoff of the 2014 Canadian Motocross National series only a week away, the Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team is excited to announce their lineup for the new season.

Coming off their second straight season of sweeping both the MX1 and MX2 Championships, the Kamloops, British Columbia based team has assembled another formidable squad to try and make it a three-peat of Canadian domination.

For 2014, the Monster Energy Thor Kawasaki team will consist of Josh Hill and Teddy Maier in the MX1 class, with defending champion, Austin Politelli and rookie, Jess Pettis, competing in the MX2 class.

New to the team for 2014 is Josh Hill

Defending MX1 champion, Brett Metcalfe, of Australia, was set to return to challenge for another MX1 title when he was called on to replace the injured Ryan Villopoto on the Factory Monster Energy Kawasaki team in the US based, AMA Motocross series. With Metty out, the team managed to secure the services of former Supercross winner, Josh Hill. The Oregon native has already managed to stage a miraculous return to form after a devastating leg injury that has culminated with a podium finish and eighth overall in this year’s Supercross series and will be looking to keep that momentum rolling as he head’s north to contest in the Canadian series.

Team owner, Jason Hughes, is excited to have Hill on board, “ Obviously it would have been nice to have Brett Metcalfe run the Number One plate for us in Canada this summer but I understand you can’t pass up an opportunity like that. I think we couldn’t have asked for a better replacement for him than Josh Hill and I think he will fit in well with our team and the Canadian series and I’m excited to see what he can do. There’s no doubt that he will be a front runner.”

Teddy Maier is looking for his first MX1 Championship in 2014

Joining Hill in the MX1 class will be two-time Canadian MX2 champion, Teddy Maier. The Iowa native is coming off a solid return to the MX1 class last year that saw him win the Edmonton round and finish fifth overall in the final standings. With the team since it’s inception in 2008, Maier is known for his strong work ethic and will no doubt be looking to step things up for 2014.

The team’s MX2 effort is anchored by defending champion, Austin Politelli. The California native is excited to return with the Number One plate and defend his title: “I’ve had a great time in Canada in my two seasons there and I was really happy to grab the championship last summer. I can’t wait to get to Nanaimo and work on adding a second title to my resume.”

Also competing in the MX2 class will be rookie pro, Jess Pettis. The Prince George, British Columbia native has been an amateur support rider of the team and is excited to make the jump to the big rig for 2014.
