Brett Metcalfe scores 2-2 finishes in the sand

July 13, 2015(Kamloops, BC) After two weekends off, the CMRC Canadian Motocross Nationals resumed in Courtland, Ontario, at one of the toughest tracks in motocross – Gopher Dunes. After winning in his previous trip to The Dunes, in 2013, Brett Metcalfe was looking forward to returning to the deep sand track. Unfortunately for the friendly Australian, he would fall ill before the race but he still put in an impressive effort to challenge for the win, in a gutsy performance. After a great battle for the lead with Matt Goerke in moto two, he ended the day with 2-2 finishes for 2nd overall and sits 2nd in the MX1 title chase as the series hits the halfway point.

Also in MX1, two-time MX2 champion, Teddy Maier finished 6th overall on the day with 7-5 moto finishes. He’s currently 8th in the MX1 points at the halfway mark.

In MX2, with Cole Martinez still healing up from an injury sustained at Nanaimo, the team brought in former rider, Shawn Rife, to fill in. The friendly Ohio native, who previously rode for the team in 2010, had minimal time to get comfortable on the bike but he rode hard. A first turn crash in moto two left him with 9-22 finishes on the day. With a week of testing to get comfortable, he will be no doubt be a factor next week at Sand Del Lee.

The series now heads north, near the Nations capital of Ottawa, to the Sand Del Lee MX track in Richmond, Ontario. For more information on the series, visit www.cmrcracing.com
