CYCLE NORTH GOES BACK TO BACK WITH ROSS JOHNSON IN THE OPEN CLASS

Tyler Gibbs brings home the 85 12-15 title

Tuesday Dec 9th 2014

There’s a saying in motocross, “You never quit till you see the checkered flag.” Oh how does that ring true for the Cycle North team in the Future West AX series. Out of the gate in Armstrong our riders all had banner weekends. It looked like the series was going to be all Cycle North on top. Then at Cloverdale a few crashes and some uncharacteristic finishes made it tough for our riders to stay on top. As the quote says though our entire Cycle North team never stopped till that final checkers. “I’m so proud of every racer under the Cycle North tent,” States Team Manager Kourtney Lloyd. “At times they could have given up and settled, but that’s not any of these guys. They fought hard each time the gate dropped and it showed in the final standings. The heart and desire the racers showed sporting the Cycle North colours is the best Christmas Gift the team could ask for.”

Winning one title is tough. Going back to back means you know what you’re doing when the gate drops. When we left Armstrong Ross Johnson went 1-1 and looked in total control on his Honda. A few tough mains had him clinging to a small lead heading into the final round this past weekend in Chilliwack. The mental toughness Johnson has is something that is very special. He was able to get out front on Friday and control the lead from start to finish giving a big outside shot for any other rider to take him off the top spot. Entering the season as last year’s champ Ross didn’t want to settle for anything less. At times it was looking scary, but Johnson’s self belief, along with the support of Cycle North has made him a two time champ in Canadian AX Open class action. The strong will survive and this season proved that. We at Cycle North want to congratulate Ross Johnson on his title. That’s the way to enter the holiday season!!

The country knows that Shawn Maffenbeier is one of the best when it comes to outdoors. With his consistency and heart Shawn was able to capture the very last main event of the year. His never give up attitude is what Shawn uses to keep the Yamaha Marine OTSFF Cycle North bike at the front of the pack all season long. Having him a part of the team was an absolute blessing to Cycle North.

Adam Enticknap is one tough dude. All season long he fought for the podium, but it was what we saw on Saturday that shows that “Seven Deuce Deuce” is a warrior. After a crash in his heat race on Friday Adam suffered a weird feeling in his leg. A hematoma formed that needed to be drained. All went well at the hospital and he was able to show up for Saturday night’s show. The way he rode with his injury was inspiring to the crowd. Then the guy goes out and wins the Dash for Cash in front of the sold out Heritage Park. It was an amazing way to close out the season as he preps for the upcoming SX season starting January 3rd at Anaheim aboard his Cycle North Honda

Dylan Schmoke carried the Cycle North husky flag all series long and did a magical job. A few hiccups along the way made it difficult at times, but Schmoke’s positive attitude never wavered. It’s racers like him that make it fun and easy for Cycle North to compete at the highest level.

At Cycle North we know that having solid Pro’s to represent us is important, but it’s the future that we care about the most. Our riders Tyler Gibbs, Hayden Wolfe, and Connor McCarron showed skill, talent, and speed all series long giving Cycle North professional attitudes and results at the amateur level. Having these little fighters gives Cycle North a edge on any other team in the pits, and for that we are proud to support them.
