Summertime With Summer Denzler Vol. 2

Summer Denzler coming at you with your weekly report on my journey across Canada following the 2017 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals.

From Prince George, British Columbia to Calgary, Alberta. This weeks track was completely different from last weeks. With Round 2 in PG having little to no cell service at all, and also being in the middle of the countryside, I’m used to shooting tracks like that back in the States. Coming to Round 3 in Calgary it was the complete opposite as the track is right next to downtown. We had amazing cell service which is great for all of us media people, and obviously had a great view of the city of Calgary. I was excited to put my artistic photography skills to the test as I’ve never had the opportunity to shoot in this environment before!

For those of you who like the nature and wildlife part that comes with being able to travel the world. Like me, you’re probably always looking up scenic spots and lakes to stop at along your journey. One of the places I was looking forward to seeing in person was Lake Louise, and I can tell you that from the moment we arrived, it was everything I thought it would be and more. After seeing photos online, it’s definitely a place I wanted to experience.

As if Jasper wasn’t beautiful enough, the route to Lake Louise was a new world with ice fields, waterfalls, huge mountains, swift, clear rivers curving gently through the forest at the foot of the mountains, and even more animals we were hoping to get to see on this journey! Shockingly, the cute but intimidating animals out here do not care if you stop to admire their gorgeous looks and unique ways of living. I had a feeling that a few of these animals were used to having their pictures taken, almost like they stopped what they were doing to pose for my camera.

I think sometimes when traveling to races we get so caught up with just trying to get there. Most times, we’re so busy during the week that we can’t help but leave for the track at the last minute, and then race to get there in time for sign-up and practice. Sadly, we’re in such a hurry that we don’t have time to stop and look around. This is one of the things that is so special about this trip. During the week, my family and I are taking the time to stop and smell the roses. With such beautiful scenery for the first few rounds, it’s been impossible not to pause and check out this majestic part of North America.

With massive mountains carved precisely from glaciers long ago, amazing animals that I can’t get enough of, waterfalls just dropping straight off of the peaks of mountains turning to mist just seconds after falling, and full on reflection photos of every element around the lake. This road trip is an experience of a life time and I’ll never forget it!

I’m still mind blown that I get to actually say I’ve seen what I saw on this trip. I never thought I would have gotten the chance to travel to this small part of the world and see so much! Western Canada is the most beautiful place I’ve ever traveled to and I cannot wait to return next year.

Round 3 at Wild Rose MX Track in Calgary was a success! Most definitely one of my favorite tracks I’ve ever taken photos at. The big city in the background set the amazing mood of action sports coming together with the fast paced city life. Throughout the day, there were planes flying in and out of the city, I wondered if they could see the race going on as that is one thing I always look for when flying! The jumps, and whole track actually, looked incredibly fun and no doubt was giving the riders quite a challenge. The track was in amazing shape all day and the warm weather gave us a taste of what summertime Pro motocross is supposed to feel like. With Father’s Day thrown in there on Sunday, as well as my brother having his best race of the series, it was an incredible family day for the Denzler’s.
