The 3 Q’s With Ryan Lockhart Presented By Matrix Concepts Canada

The final race of the Future West MX Series was a huge success. Photo by James Lissimore

MXP: Hey Newf! Let’s start with the final Future West MX round last weekend at Whispering Pines. How was it, and is that the final race we’ll ever see at this iconic Canadian track?

RL: It ended up being a great weekend overall. It started out being super muddy the first day, so we had a delayed start. The weather ended up turning around, and the track was awesome. It was some of the best conditions I have ever seen. As far as what the future holds for the track, that will be decided soon. I have a feeling that we will still be racing there next year, but the plans are for the track to be moved in the future.

MXP: You’re over in France with Team Canada. There are obviously a ton of questions we could ask you about this week. Let’s start with the riders. How has practice and training been this week, and how are they feeling heading into the weekend?

RL: It’s been a good week. The trip over here went well, and everyone is adjusting to the time change. We have had two practice days, and they both went well. The tracks were really good and very similar to Ernee. Bikes are all dialled in, so I don’t think a lot more could be done coming into the weekend.

Team Canada is ready to go for qualifying tomorrow. Unfortunately, it will be an uphill battle tomorrow as Team Canada has the last gate pick for Saturday’s qualifying races. Photo by James Lissimore

MXP: We should ask you about how the French Red Wine is, but how about you give us your Top 3 predictions for Sunday, and where do our boys fit into the mix?

RL: I will go with Australia, France, and the USA for the podium. Regarding Team Canada, I think we can be 6-8 if the stars align. We need the boys to be on their A-game, and if we have some luck, we can do it.
